Defensive “Speed”
It’s always been chic for decades to say Notre Dame lacks speed. This year, the popular statement is the Irish don’t have the speed on defense like the SEC schools.

Here’s the deal: If Notre Dame gives up 35 points to South Carolina like Alabama did, or 65 points to Auburn as Arkansas did, or 43 points to Arkansas as Auburn did, or 48 points to Oregon and 41 to Georgia as Tennessee did, etc., it’s always about Notre Dame’s “speed.”

When the SEC teams have the same problems against today’s offense, what’s the excuse?

Same with academics. When Notre Dame struggles on the gridiron, it’s because of “academic standards.”

When Texas, USC, LSU, Oklahoma and Alabama also went through 12-to-20 year slumps not too long ago … what was their excuse?

Whenever Notre Dame loses, it almost always comes back to “speed” and “academic standards” for talking heads. It was that way 40 years ago, and it will be that way 40 years from now. Cut. Copy. Paste.

Well said

Picture perfect 5-2 defense on that play. DLine plugged, and Carlo and Manti took beautiful angles to the ball. Carlo made the initial contact and buttered up the back enough for Manti to follow up and cut like a knife. What a tandem.

Someone needs to frame that hit and place it on the top of the I.E. logo.

You have to admire Cierre Wood's dedication in asking to be hit by that man after practice a few times a week.
