Us and UCLA are their best opportunities IMO

No one in the West besides UCLA offers good mix of both and I don't see them being recruited by the big boys at both like OSU.

Yes, football it would be a football scholarship. NO, its not based on the higher grossing sport. The NCAA rules clearly state that football takes precedence over all other sports, and basketball takes precedence over all other sports except football.

bogs, scholarships can't be split between two sports.

When Bear Bryant was Head Football Coach AND AD at Bama he put football players on track, tennis, swimming, anywhere to keep them from Auburn and the rest of the SEC. There were other coaches/schools that did the same but I believe Bryant was recognized at being among the most successful in skirting NCAA regs. Saban is doesn't come close.

UCLA doesn't offer a good mix of both, at least right now they don't. Their football has been in shambles for a decade, and their basketball has sucked the last few years as well. And I come from a UCLA family and it's the only school I'll ever root for other than ND, so it's not sour grapes talking...it's the truth. (But their bball program is about to take off.)

By your standards (saying UCLA is good at both), then there are other schools on the west coast that offer just as much if not more than UCLA - Washington and Stanford for example. Stanford's football program is the same as UCLA's basketball program as far as recent success, and their basketball is equivalent to UCLA's football. UW has had marginal success in both sports, and are on the rise in football.

So they have some decent option IF they are recruited by those schools. Pac 12 bball is REALLY down and hard-up for talent, so they might be able to find roster spots easier, but at the same time, they might want to explore bball opportunities across the country...
