I saw that. Remember that RB-Carlton Thomas gave a verbal to them a week or two ago. They may have picked up another. Although, there also seems to be some shuffling whenever they re-review the player ratings and someone gets moved up to a 5*, etc.

I'm not worried about that though. We should pick-up a few more recruits before 2008's class closes. As long as we're in the top-10 and we get the position players we want, we've accomplished our objectives.

I respect the heck out of Mark Richt as a human being, but does anyone do less with more than UGA? Hopefully we are not hearing that about Charlie and ND in 2 years.

IrishAlum,
CW has next year to get things headed in the right direction. Another poor season is NOT acceptable. The cupboard will be full next season and the schedule is very managable. If we end up 7-5 or worse, it should be CW's last season at ND. There are not 3 much less 5 teams on our schedule we should lose to. As for the recruiting rankings, I could care less if we end up Number 1. We know we have got top talent at all positions coming. We just need to close on the WR's and an OL or two. Maybe a RB too.

True, but it doesn't really matter what our recruiting rank is if CW can't hold onto the players. My point was that recruiting can be a little subjective where one service has a guy as a the highest 4-star and another service has him as the lowest 5-star.

If you put together a class that fills all the spots you need with good, coachable talent (and obviously keep them), who cares whether the class is #3 versus #1.

If we have all the same 19 guys (plus a RB and a WR maybe), I am not concerned about the overall class rating. Its all arbitrary anyway. If ND can play well enough to be listed with those top 5-10 teams, in ranking and not just recruiting, I will be thrilled.

So do I. He's on my list of coaches that I would like to play for, or would be ok with my kid playing for him. I don't know if any of you guys caught what he did after last week's win over Vandy, but he really gained some more respect from me.

For those of you that missed it some of the UGA players started to celebrate in the middle of Vandy's field after pulling off a close victory. Richt went after and got in the face of the players that were celebrating. Then during his post game press conference he apologized to Vandy and their fans for his teams classless behavior.

That is classy. I really appreciate coaches who try to make their players better men, students and athletes. That's one big reason I don't respect Carrol & SC. They have one of the worst graduation rates and show some of the worst sportsmanship.

The guy who calls himself the head ball coach and threatens to leave if the school doesn't dumb down the entry requirements is another such classless azz.

Yeah, that's pretty cool. Too bad his team is a disappointment on the playing field year-in, year-out. But that's definitely a classy move.

He's scum, he allows other schools verbal committs to take officials to his school. piss on him and shame on him too.

Please don't be fooled by Mark Richt's image. Remember he came from FSU. UGA graduation rates are terrible. One of the worst in NCAA. UGA has mulitple players thrown in to jail every year in the offseason and during the season and continue to play every game. Mark Richt is no saint. I live in Atlanta and have a very good law officer and knows the hush hush in Athens. He puts on a very good front, but is a reason college football needs a closer look at.

Thats not classy, thats just common sense. You never show up your opponent, you hope your players have been raised with class, and if they havent, you hope you were able to instill that in them sometime beforehand.

Like I said, as a man, he's sending kids the wrong message by allowing them to take officials to his school after they have verballed elsewhere. He's no different than all the other a-holes like Pete Carroll.

You mean like the Jr. that already verbaled to USC, but is still making a visit to ND this weekend. That's life in the recruiting world, and I'd do it too if I were a coach. I wouldn't care if a kid was verbally commited somewhere else or not, I would continue to recruit them, and allow them to take visits to my school. But I would stop if they told me they were 100% commited and asked me to stop, and CW does the same thing. Then as far as my commitments were concerned I would be like Mac Brown and CW, if they start looking around and taking visits when their commited to my school then I would no longer hold a spot for them.

Didn't we do that with Allen, Gray and others in the last few years???

I dont know, did we? Then piss on CW too (no, jk ;) ).

Yeah I'm pretty sure, I think Sam Young's Off. visit was when he was committed to UF correct??

I could be wrong, I'm tired and not wanting to look it up but the point is ND does the same thing...

like Gosh said, just the way of things...

This was the first year I followed recruiting, so it makes me wonder why give your word if it means nothing. I know this though, I don't blame the high school kids.

I don't think that was the case with Allen and Young. I know most people considered them to be Florida leans, but unless they were silent I think it was just Gray last year, and it would have been that way with Smith too, but Farentz told him he was going to pull his scollie if he visited, but he went ahead and came anyway. Every coach out there does it, the way you seperate the scumbags from the nice guys are the ones that won't leave a kid alone even after they've have asked to be, the ones that make up lies about other programs, the ones that offer a kid and then won't let him commit, or the worst ones are the ones that accept a commitment but then pull their offer at the last min because they found someone they like more.

... and the way you separate the mere scumbags from the outright a--holes is that only the latter tell a player to keep the fact that he's changed his mind secret until NSD (Butch Davis, anyone?).

There are a number of teams in the top ten who are either at their limit for players or on the bubble to lose a player or two. As long as we hold on to what we go and finish out this class we'll finish in the top three guaranteed.
