Former Notre Dame offensive lineman Tim Scannell died Sept. 26 following a battle with brain cancer, according to his obituary. He was 62.

Scannell earned a starting job on the Fighting Irish offensive line as a freshman. As a senior, he was named a team captain and earned All-American honors.

After his playing career was over, Scannell worked as a grad assistant at Notre Dame under legendary coach Lou Holtz. He was on staff when the Fighting Irish won a national championship in 1988.

RIP. He had a very impressive, albeit random; professional career. GA under Holtz on the ‘88 team, secret service under Pres Bush, device rep for Stryker where he eventually climbed the ladder to president. Very impressive life.

Jim Bakker passed at 86. Another evangelist famous for the wrong reasons. Embezzled from his congregation. His wife Tammy got a lot of attention due to all of the makeup she wore.

Bakker rose to prominence in the 1970s as co-host of "The PTL Club," which he launched with Tammy Faye. The pair also founded Heritage USA, a Christian theme park in South Carolina.

Their empire collapsed in the late 1980s amid a sex and money scandal. Bakker was convicted of fraud and conspiracy after misusing ministry funds and selling "lifetime memberships" to a hotel that was never completed. He was sentenced to 45 years in prison, though he ultimately served about five years.

When I was growing up, our Non-denominational neighbors had little kids and I remembered they listened to Tammy and Jim Bakker records. Apparently they got their start doing Christian puppet shows.

Ditka vs. God?

Trick question - Ditka is God!

Loved those old SNL skits!

RIP to a legend - although he wasn't God, hopefully he is now with Him.

R.I.P. Coach Ditka.

I'll always remember him standing on the sideline, chewing the hell out of that gum as he purveyed the field.
