Don't want this to turn political. I did respect a good bit of his ability to go up in public and debate with others, especially those who disagreed, even hated him. Didn't really agree with much of his political values, but he seemed like a nice person and a good family man.

No one deserves to be shot in cold blood, standing up in public and freely speaking your beliefs. And a lot of the responses on social media following him being shot and the announcement of his death...I've lost so much faith in humanity reading those. It's truly evil and vile shit.

The only social media I have is right here and that's how I like it. I don't like what a lot of you people say but I respect you regardless and definitely DON'T want to kill anyone.

I, too, want to avoid the political commentary with every fiber of my being. And I disagreed quite a bit with Charlie Kirk and the positions he held dear.

But man, this just hits hard. Just a young kid, with a young family, trying to do what he thought was right. And seeing him go on Gavin Newsom and Bill Maher's respective shows/pods, I really had hope that we could get back to the days where political discourse could be civil, and people with differing views could come together and discuss those differences in a civil manner.

For the first time since I joined, I'm seriously thinking about giving up on X/Twitter (I got rid of Facebook long ago, and never got "in" to TikTok).

I love it for following breaking sports stories, but you can't help but get inundated with political nonsense and hate. And on a day like today, it's ten times worse.

And yeah, I saw the Kirk video, and it's horrifying. After I saw it (not by choice, but because it just...popped up on my feed), I knew it was just a matter of waiting until they pronounced him dead, because it was abundantly clear he wouldn't have have survived even if the hospital was ten feet away.

I've just joined. this is my first post. I live in Ireland and we over here think Chalie was a stand up guy. I have recently heard his wife and kids were at the shooting and a very sad day for the world. Words and the sticks and stones are too much.

Holliday and George Lindsey were both from Jasper, a small town about an hour north of Tuscaloosa. I don't think they knew each other growing up, though, as Lindsey was almost a decade older than Holliday. Lindsey did appear on an episode of Flo later. I hate to hear of her death. She was a very talented comedic actress.
