I know it's a bit of an tangent, but perhaps it would help me if you unpacked your statement that "Well meaning liberals and their social programs send the message to ...homosexuals, etc. that "you are too weak to make it on your own. I'm narrowing this down to the gays because I can't even conceive of what you might be talking about in that case. If you can explain what govt programs make gays weak and how, I might understand your point about blacks and women better too.

We'll they've been made a special and protected class. That signals that they are weak and vulnerable and need protection. It won't be long before they become more and more dependent on the government to protect and provide for them. That is how dependency works. You can never be free if you depend on the government.

Mr. Hunt lunged at cops with a sword, and then ran away...with the sword (At least that is what is on record thus far). That makes him a threat to the public. So yea, he'd be shot in the back running away...with the sword. How bullet placement was presented previously...IDK. I do know the dude lunged at cops with a damned sword.

Had Mr. Hunt dropped the sword, and simply ran away, I'm thinking he would not have been shot...but I can't say with certainty, because thats not what happened.

Now if what we know turns out to be BS, and he dropped the sword as he turned to run...then yea, I'd say excessive force...

My advice...Don't want to get shot...don't do stupid shit like poke a sword at a cop then run away .... with the sword. That will get ya shot....every time...at least in Utah.

Well my five issues are that it was a replica sword, they either didn't have a Taser or didn't think to use it, the cops conveniently didn't have their body cams on, a picture was taken right before he started to run of him smiling and talking to the cops, and the cops have already been caught lying about this case. I don't think anyone denies that police sometimes over step their bounds and of course there are some scum bag cops. Sometimes police actions are not justified however the Michael Brown case was not one of those times. All of this effort expended, all of this property destroyed, all of this rioting and looting over the justified shooting of an adult (he was 18 so not a "kid" like some in the media like to say) who A) had just robbed a store while assaulting the owner and B) disobeyed a police officer, then assaulted said police officer while attempting to said officer's weapon from him.

This is the problem that needs to be addressed. It sounds like such a minor thing but it isn't. Black folks have a terrible image problem that's pretty much been ingrained in society, INCLUDING BLACKS. These protests and rioters just make things worse. The problem isn't whites against blacks, it's almost everyone, including blacks thinking poorly of blacks. Who else has heard a black relative, friend etc. Say "oh I like that light skinned girl" , I know I have a lot. This video makes me really sad, but it's reality and that's usually the toughest to see. Just demanding change doesn't cut it. This issue must change from within first.

I'm surprised you haven't linked any of the hundreds of examples of similar questionable police action towards whites or Latinos, but I guess that doesn't really fit your narrative of all this being strictly a black race issue.

Uhhh did you see the video I just posted of the Denver police? It was literally like 3 posts up. I was also about to post Dillon Taylor last night but I didn't want to post 3 separate cases. It affects black people the worst, but it happens to everyone. It's more systematic and institutionalized against minorities, but psycho cops affect anyone in their path.

No they don't. I have a replica samurai sword. I mean you could hurt someone by hitting them with it but nothing is lethal about it. Even if he lunged at him, which is sketchy if he was smiling and talking to them seconds before, there is no reason to shoot him from behind or to have body cams turned off. Tasers need to be the first, second, and third options for the cops. This was a time when non-lethal forces would have been absolutely necessary and the only good option.

70 year old white veteran gets shot by black trooper.

Trooper pulled him over. Veteran gets out of the car.
Reached for the something in the back.
Cop, within 2-3 seconds of the reach, shoots him, kills him.
Man was reaching for a cane.
No charges were brought against the cop.

And it was 100% the right call.

I want cops who error on the side of caution in favor of innocent people...the moment the threat fails to be contained...BOOM! Now rather they could use tasers or non-lethal forms to contain a threat...fine. But what I won't stand for is cops who stand around thinking about 15 different things.
