I was web browsing over on cbssportsline.com and came across a message board at the end of a Fighting Irish Team Report. Someone who goes by "Irish Entourage" wrote this today...

August 14, 2008 2:47 pm

Possible Transfer

"Not going to drop any names until I have concrete evidence, but there are numerous rumors swirling. This much I can tell you. It's not a starter or even a 2 deep player for that matter."

Anybody heard anything about this or is this just some nonsense?

I've read some rumblings on some other boards that its WR Richard Jackson. Supposedly he wasn't at practice today and rumor has it that he asked Coach Weis for a release this morning. This is just what I've read though so don't take my word on it.

I'm going to wait until WWB chimes in. If he says it, it must be true!!

If all is true, best of luck to him. He really got lost in the shuffle.

I wish Richard the best, I was very excited when he committed and really hoped for the best from this kid. The injury last year obviously hasn't helped and I think he is the type of player that might be best suited playing elsewhere due to the depth chart, this is something that will be a natural occurrence for the Irish due to the influx of talent that comes in though.

Here's to you Richard, may everything work out for the best in the end for you.

Good Luck to the young man. I wish it would have turned out better for him on the field, but that is life.

This gives me the feeling that our recruiting is just getting better, when you bring in guys and they start passing the older players for time. As long as it is kept under control (to me that means 2 or 3 per year) and managed by the staff and is not because of reasons other that wanting p.t., then thats ok by me.

From what I've read it looks as though Richard is leaving ND with nothing but praise for the school and the football program. I, unfortunately didn't know much about Richard when he was being recruited, nor did I in the last 2 years. Regardless, he sounds like he's making this decision based on himself and his family. As long as this makes him happy, I am all for it. Best of luck to you Richard. I'm sure many teams would love to pick you up.

He was a 4 star coming out of high school, so the kid obviously has talent. I hope he finds a home that makes him happy. Best of luck to him.

I'm never pleased to see a prized recruit leave, but in the case of Richard Jackson, he must have seen the writing on the wall with all of the young WR on the roster. Good luck to him and I hope he finds a place to play that will use his size and skills and that he goes on to have a great career...just not with one of our opponents ;)

He is one of the few transfers at this time that I would really like to follow his career because I think he is a stud and has a ton of talent, just was prohibited from showcasing it by injuries. Best of luck.

Jackson is the sixth member of the Class of 2006 to transfer, following quarterbacks Demetrius Jones and Zach Frazer, tight end Konrad Reuland, offensive lineman Matt Carufel and running back/defensive back Munir Prince. All five of the previous transfers had been passed on the the depth chart by youngers players....

That was the last paragraph on scouts.........and it basically sums up the talent that ND is bringing in... How many more days......?

Richard came to ND with a lot of talent who wasn't able to showcase the talents mostly due to breaking his wrist last year. I really hope he finds a great program that is closer to home for him and his family to enjoy the rest of his college career. Good luck Richard in all that you do in the future.

I think Floyd and Walker will be making an immediate impact from game 1.

it's true. please be civil if there is to be any discussion of the issue.

Is it civil to ask who the hell Richard Jackson is? I'm not trying to be flippant about it, but I don't think I have ever even heard his name, so how bad can it hurt the team?

He was a player from the 2006 class (he would have been a True Junior this year). He really did not see playtime and such... So, it's a loss to the team in depth and potential.

More importantly, it's another young man who won't get his degree from ND even though he had a free ride. That's the worst/saddest part.
