imo, last year we started fast with verbals and then we struggled at times to hang to them throughout some ruff losses during the season. does anybody see this year as being the opposite? we have a big year in the win column and pick up some big time commits late in the cycle? any thoughts? thanks in advance for any insight!

It's been said before, but a 9-10 win season (especially getting off to a good start in the first 5 games - most important factor IMO) sets up a potentially great next 5-6 years for ND Nation. On the other hand, another up and down season will be very damaging. This is a huge year the program IMO.

Yup. This year is huge. There must be more wins and a fast start. Wins vs S. Florida & the Michigan schools would be killer.

If you are looking for numbers---

If you are looking for numbers---

If you are looking for numbers---
There were 8 commits at the end of April 2010
There are 7 today, almost the end of May.

Carrico, Brindza, Farley, Grace, Hanratty, Springmann, Koyack and Hegarty last year
Shephard, Decker, Darby, Baratti, Daly, Ferguson and Harrell this year.

As of this date, one year later, that was it----

Are we being more selective ? Last year looks pretty good. But 2011 looks like it will come in very strong.

Plus I think we are getting more attention from the best players around the country this year than we did last year. That being said ND, beating a dead horse here, needs to have a good season and good start to keep their attention and potentially get their signature.

My thing is alot of recruits last year were so unsure of what kelly could do so some of them didnt give ND a legit look. You all saw what 4 wins to end the season did for the program, imagine what a 10 win season with a BCS win would do. A sad as it is most kids now a days have extremely short memory.

yes...as stated above when you're involved in the recruitment of a lot of the top players in the country you have to be patient, because those are the guys that have more enticing options than the middle level guys. good start will correlate into a solid start in recruiting and a good finish will do the same.

I agree with you. If we win and have a solid season then they will come. Winning isn't everything but to recruits it does go a long way.

How is everyone feeling about recruiting this year? I am happy with Darby and Tee, Decker but I concerned at some of the other verbals we have taken. I have surfed around different rival team sites(The Big Boys) and most have more highly recruited or ranked players than us. I know stars aren't everything but they do play a role in evaluating what you have. Anyone else a bit concerned?

WINS = RECRUITS ....

If that were true ND would have been 50 - 0 during the Faust Years when they dominated recruiting.

You need talent + a great coach.

Time will tell.

I'm hopeful.

Problem is we are filling up pretty quick. Right now comparing this to other teams we would be top 15- 20 class.

If we are seeing the available scholarships dwindling, so are the recruits. I would bet the remaining DB recruits were notified by the staff. 8 commits from 8 different states, is impressive. The versatility is awesome.

I see real talent in all of our current verbals. I'll bet that the Staff is pleased. What worries me is the RB situation and the NT situation [though there are some signs that the latter might turn out OK --- we're in the mix for at least four good ones]. My preference would be to see some positive vibes about a real slobberknocker middle linebacker to be Manti's heir. The bigs seem to be coming.

RBs where are you??
