You created that narrative entirely on your own, bud. You had to put the word minorities in my mouth to try and distort the strength of the premise, but most of this board won't fall for that.

Plenty of white people got mortgages too that they shouldn't have. Funny part about risk and real estate...you can take race and ethnicity out of it entirely. It's all about the numbers.
You're using a Thomas Sewell theory lmao that's on you buddy.

It's not a theory. It's reality. The floor didn't collapse in 2008 because of tax cuts and private sector executives keeping more money in their pockets.

The big banks went upside down because the federal government forced them to give mortgages to people who couldn't afford them.

And it's really odd for you to be claiming (on my behalf) that I'm using a Thomas Sewell theory while at the same time accusing me of making racist assumptions about a failed economic policy. Stunning. Take the L and move on.

Diversity can be about more than just gender and race. In this case I would say it was more diversity of income/finances we saw it play with mortgages and we're seeing it play out again with student loans. The rising cost of college and student loan debt down really become a widespread issue until the government got involved and made everyone eligible and no caps for students seeking degrees in saturated markets.

Both of those situations negatively affected poor Americans regardless of skin color or gender and much higher rates than those who are wealthy.

Agree, the housing collapse didn’t know racial barriers.

Lol you have provided literally nothing except some generalized theory that isn't even widely accepted! Of course I'm going to laugh it, it comes from Thomas Sewell!

I'm laughing because you think it was the Feds FORCING banks to lend to people and not that deregulation that let banks go wild lending to people they shouldn't have.

What's the deal with the protestors in Chicago anyway? I heard they were there, but whatever article I read it in didn't explain what their beef was. I would have expected this kind of protest at the RNC for Trump, seems strange it's there at the DNC.

Apparently Palestinian protesters were getting bussed in from surrounding states

Free Palestine. Ceasefire now.

I wonder if they are aware that Israel accepted the US ceasefire but Hamas rejects it? Eh, as if it would matter.

I mean, 2020 school shut downs weren't that long ago. Did you already forget that school closings disproportionately affected poor kids and getting these breakfasts you speak of? Who's cities closed schools for the longest? Just asking.
Wait, wouldn't Covid sickness and deaths disproportionately affect poor kids, as well?

I worked for a school district that delivered meals to students at their homes.

1) You're missing the point and,
1b) Please review the Covid thread for the many posts related to children and their risk with Covid.
2) Thank you for doing that.

I'm sorry, but I couldn't stop laughing at the first one. The second clip is the "Get off my lawn" old man.

As scary as the notion is, this guy probably should have stepped down and let Kamala take over. It's embarrassing to be the leader of the free world and fail to deliver your own propaganda statements.

Ah, the wonderfully not insane Covid thread, thank you. It makes sense then.

Most of us are rolling our eyes and laughing at you. I'll chuckle at the notion that I'm quoting Thomas Sewell while making racist accusatoins.

Reminds me of the time in my Civil Rights and Civil Liberties class when I voiced my agreement with Clarence Thomas' views on Affirmative Action and I got called a racist

lol I never made racist "accusatoins". I found it hilarious that you took up a theory parroted by a guy who wrote a book that said the Government was DEI/Woke/Buzzword to push banks to lend when they shouldn't have.

Those of us who actually studied economics and literally studied this very event in-depth, laugh at that notion. You would have never had as great of a collapse as it was if MBS' weren't given the greenlight (thanks Bill) and financial markets deregulated (under Reagan). But, yeah sure let's assume the Government forced the banks L-O-L.
