Fisher has absolutely no business going pro… he struggled some vs the top DEs he faced

Yes he would get drafted but much later than he should or could if he improved
only reason i can see him gong pro is that he's accepted his role as a guard at the next level.

I used to never blame kids for leaving early and getting any NFL money they could get, even if they probably could have benefitted from another year in college.

I do think NIL changes that calculus though. If you can earn six figures with some deals (and if you are good enough at ND that shouldn't be an issue) than maybe the smarter play is to actually come back and improve that draft status.

this absolutely has to be the way we do things, especially because of our limitations in the transfer portal. for example, i think the salary for a rookie 4th round pick is around 750k.

We’ve already seen examples where NIL played a role in guys coming back for an extra year. Hartman, Foskey, probably Cam Hart to some level.
If you can make decent money while (hopefully) improving your draft stock, and having fun being a college football star instead of a body on an NFL practice squad, that’s going to be appealing to a fair number of guys. Not all of them, but enough to help us.

Chris Wilson write-up for Wake game:

I think what he's expressing in this part is what has frustrated so many fans. I couldn't agree more.

But to be whiny for a paragraph, it’s hard to watch that game and not be further annoyed at what we’ve seen for a lot of this season. Ample play action leading to big plays down the field. (I understand Hartman’s numbers weren’t great on play action, but that’s something you have to figure out.) RPOs early and often. On the fourth down conversion, they put Rico Flores in motion and that helped get him open, a wild concept. On the first touchdown, they used a wheel route to Devyn Ford, taking advantage of the talented stable of backs in a creative way. In general, there were plenty of deep shots, which we didn’t see nearly enough at times. I understand the Irish have played some quality defenses and there were concerns about protection, but imagine showing someone the NC State and Wake Forest games and asking them to guess how much pre-snap motion, play action and shot plays were involved in the games betwixt them. It was always there!

Stat that came out on the II podcast that was eye popping. There were a total of 24 catches in all of college football by freshman last weekend. Notre Dame's freshman accounted for 15 of those 24 catches.

Sampson, re: The cock-up at the end of 1H:
Notre Dame simply cannot end a half like it did against Wake Forest.

...

“It’s a part of the game,” Freeman said. “We want to be flawless, but at the end of the day, we have to make sure we execute the right way.”

But it’s not part of the game for teams with championship-level offenses.

...

These kinds of moments don’t happen when a staff is clicking.

Feels like we've had multiple "ND simply cannot do [something they did]..." moments under Freeman

We had a good number of them in the first BK seasons too.

Do we forget the game opening delay of games/timeouts we had under BK? Shit used to drive me crazy 😂 You literally scripted your first play all week!

Thank you for remembering. Watch an LSU game…this year…It’s like since he’s gone he is being remembered as a game day savant. He wasn’t and he is not. I hate the screw ups as much as the next fan, but it is going to happen with a second year coach like it happens with some thirty second year head coaches. If you expected perfection when they hired the guy your expectations were not realistic. I know it sux when you see it, and I think the jury is still out on whether MF will be the answer for us, but if he gets better every year and the recruiting and results move in an upward trajectory along with our ability to actually compete with the best teams we should consider ourselves lucky to have him.
As soon as we got Hartman some peoples expectations went through the roof especially after the start. But Hartman isn’t Jayden Daniels, and our WR room needs time. OL needed consistency. OC needs seasoning. Scheduling needs tweaking. Certainly has been an up and down year but 10 wins, and another good recruiting class is still moving in the right direction.
