BVG is sh!T

D line has no balls

James O is a stud

Coney needs to start next week. Martini sucked

our secondary is embarrassing. BVG could have Dion sanders, Reeves, Troy P, and Reed and fuck it up. Guy needs to go TONIGHT!

Kizer is outstanding.

Adams is our best WR and RB. Kid is phenomenal

TE U is finished and ended when we hired Kelly. I expect decommitments soon at the TE position

Kelly gets outcoached every damn week...I understand giving Malik a shot but how do you explain bringing back in the second half?

As soon as we had the lead Kelly fuckeed it up and changed the play calling.

I am the biggest irish kool aid drinker and I have finally realized this staff will never win a NC...

How much of this can also be attributed to the fact that we have a defensive coordinator that refuses to recruit? Not only is he piss poor at coaching what he's givin, he also thinks he's above going out on the road and actually helping bring in talent for HIS FUCKING SYSTEM!!!!!!

This motherfucker cant be jettisoned soon enough.

I don't disagree with any of this, but it was Brian Kelly who chose to bring him and also chose not to fire him after last season.

I am just sick over this game. Kelly really blew it sticking with the 2 QB bs for so long. He should have stuck with Kizer from the get go. Make a decision like a head coach should!

Van Gorder is an asshat.

Haven't seen a single post about the OL. I was very surprised that we got little push and that Texas was able to get pressure as often as they did.

-Kiser is a very good QB.
-BVG is awful (Which we knew before the season)
-Crawford. Stepherson aren't ready for big time football.
-O-line/D-line get a C- grade.
-Another game Kelly goes conservative
-Newsome struggled
-Adams needs to be the #1 back
-Kelly dropped the ball by bringing back BVG. And it has made his seat hot.
-This is going to hurt big time in recruiting.

Been saying this whole time DK is killing you in the air and you take the ball out of his hands?? Wtf!! Also what's it take to get some fucking press coverage on their WRs on 3rd down. Lastly 18s in you know they are running why aren't we stopping him . Last series in OT was inexcusable they wanted it more than us.
By no means am I supporting the play calls during that time, but we were without Hunter. That has to change the play calls some.

I will add here that putting in Zaire after his first series was a huge mistake. Kizer is clearly ahead of Zaire.

I am so fucking mad right now.

1. I'd be surprised if Brian VanGorder makes it through the whole season.

2. DeShone Kizer is the real deal. 15/24, 215 yds, 5 TDs, 0 INTs. 13 carries for 77 yards and 1 TD

3. For all of the defensive failure, the defense did play well in spots.... In the 3rd Q, Texas had 5 drives......... 3 of those were 3 and outs. And there was a Texas drive of 4 plays for -3 yards in the 4Q. It's just maddening that that same defense looked like they couldn't tackle a peewee RB, in the OT.

4. 8 penalties for 64 yards is not horrible, but that's gotta get cleaned up as well.

5. Folston looks a little slower and not as quick as he was, pre-injury. But he is still a very good back.

6. The targeting non-call was textbook targeting.......... it wasn't mean or dirty or a cheap shot; but it was targeting.

7. It's going to be a long, stressful year....... but there will probably be more ups than downs.

My game ball goes to DeShone Kizer, and it ain't even close.

Agreed with the exception of BVG making it through the season. That's not in Kelly's (or ND's) M.O. is it?

I also expected more dominant OLine, our OLine. Harry still has work to do.

Said this in the game thread but still holds true.

As many questions marks ND had on offense, replacing Fuller, Brown, Procise, Robinson, Jones, I think they showed tonight they can score on anyone. There are a lot of weapons still in the arsenal.

The defense on the other hand, I have no clue. There wasn't a "bright" spot I can point to. Everything just looked off. Hope they figure out another scheme or different personnel.

Sure playing MZ gave up a few possessions, but the audition was needed and at least we have closure. I don't think this is what cost us.

The D is going to struggle this year, but that appears (at least for one game) is a talented Texas O. Speed on the outside, mean RBs, and an experienced QB to spell a talented freshman. Oh yeah, a bunch of talented Texas HS recruits.

I'm not as down on the team as others, but the game did hurt.

My post game observations:
1. Kizer picked up where he left off last year. Zaire looked lost.
2. The no targeting call on Tori Hunter is flat out bull$hit, a poor call by the officials.
3. BVG will be gone after this year and I hope he is replaced by a proven college football coordinator.
4. Isaac Rochell is a beast.
5. Heck of a game by Shaun Crawford, he is going to put together a solid year.
6. When Texas put Swoopes in they should've had 1 person keyed in on him, you knew he was going to run the ball.
7. Good to see Folston back.
8. I said this last year and I am going to keep saying it, get CJ Saunders the ball as much as possible, he is dangerous in the open field, and he proved it tonight.
9. When Kelly announced a 2-qb system I expected what he did at Cincinnati an up tempo offense...it was just too slow.
10. Nice start for ESB to the 2016 year, could he do what Fuller did in his second year? I hope OSB took note.

BONUS- Malik is too athletic to keep off the field...too bad Kelly couldn't do with him what Texas did with Jerrod Heard.

Game ball-- Shaun Crawford

It's so sad to waste this much talent at QB and RB with Adams.. Most heart breaking loss of the season by far

Van gorder may be a decent defensive coach but not in college. Train wreck in Athens, same story in south bend. Needs to go. He was a sexy pick when Kelly brought him in. Go get diaco back. At last he could stop someone when it matters.

That no call in tori hunter was the game changer in my book. Instead of Texas being penalized notre dame was3 times. No touchdown, no 1st down on s targeting call and losing their best receiver for likely multiple weeks.

Defense was trucked plain and simple. Burnt on the back end and ran over on the line. Their game plan off the freshman was working because we could t pressure him. The few times we did he was Terrible. Defense must get better in a hurry.

My observation is that safety play will haunt the team all year and I'm worried about our offense if Hunter misses extended time.

Not a very deep team at all this year. Shame. Some bad recruiting coming home to roost.

And we took some more hits tonight.

Everyone that said we were going to smoke this team again this year after the 2015 game needs to take a lap. I said last year this would be a really tough game in Austin and that Strong was a good coach. Did BVG suck it up? Definitely, but credit Texas for coming to play, they were vastly improved from last year.

As a Zaire guy I do think Kizer should be the QB, but honestly I thought we did some stupid stuff when Zaire was in, limited as his action was. We were struggling to run the ball in the 1st half, and Zaire was doing a lot of hand offs that were getting gobbled up. Would have liked to see some more screens to take advantage of the fact Texas was playing aggressive. We clearly need to get the ball to Sanders more too, he's so electric with the ball in his hands.

I was hesitant to throw BVG under the bus after the first two seasons of injuries. It wasn't fair to assess his defense when they often played decently in the beginning of the year. Tonight was pretty awful though, we gave up way too many big plays deep. If that's on the Safeties, fine, but we knew these WRs had speed. On one of Burt's big TDs we were playing tight coverage on him and didn't even bother to try and bump him at the line. Obviously we didn't have the speed to keep up with him in a track meet, why would we not give him some space? He seemed to struggle on shorter throws when we did give him a bit of a cushion.

Offensively I thought we did pretty well, but still made some boneheaded plays. We ran two read options on that last drive of regulation I think, both went no where and lead to a punt...Texas had been doing a pretty good job bottling it up all game, thought we should have maybe pitched the ball a bit more and tried to get out to the flat.

Just such an awful game defensively. I didn't expect miracles, but I was hoping they would hold 'em to 30 or less at least. Would have been nice to have some film on Texas before this game, but we knew they were going to go up tempo and take shots deep.

All 3 dudes on ESPN said expect a 2 loss team in the playoffs.

Dude really??? They were clearly hedging their here in case the sec only had two loses... No zero... At all our guys make it through ... Not like they could have after today tho...

We lost on BOTH LOS........ for the most part. We did win some plays, and won the LOS for some drives, but it was disappointing that one of the best lines in CFB(our offensive line) didn't consistently win the LOS.

I must be the only sucker still here who likes Kelly and wouldn't want any (realistic) replacement in the country over him

Kizer isn't the next Cam Newton, he's the next Aaron Rodgers. Is there another QB you saw this week you think is clearly better than him?

He blew nothing with the two QB system. We scored enough offensively to win this game. Zaire didn't play poorly, we struggled to run the ball a lot tonight. Aside from Folston's big run and Kizer's designed draws, Texas was very stingy with the run defense. A lot of our hand offs went no where, and Zaire was asked to hand it off a lot. Kizer certainly played awesome though, and the score reflects that.

This loss is on the defense, and specifically BVG. Can't really hang it on the injuries this time.

I thought we had good pass protection but lacked in the run blocking.

I'm in for revisiting him. He can stay for a bit, but changes need to be made. Now.
