Shembo is NOT a dog. He doesn't seem to have the speed to cover ground. I would like to see Spond there, when he is healthy, and I thought Niklas played well.

However, his passing rushing skills are very good. I would like to see him rush the QB more often. because he brings it.

I disagree. He caught Graham from behind to save a TD. That was awesome

The Good: We won 2-2

The Bad: Turnovers and penalties again.....

The Ugly: the Irish time management. This has become a crutch in every game so far this year. I don't understand how a play cannot be called that has been practiced and studied for game day and yet we are close to getting a delay penalty, get a delay penalty, or burn up timeouts so badly????

I simply wanted to hear if it is possible for your arm strenght to be improved

No. You're born with a certain amount of arm strength, and it will never get any better.

Wow what's with all the hate. It's hard for me to imagine that is the case and you can't improve it. To me, it seemed Jimmy Clausen's arm strength got better each year. I mean watching the Michigan game in 2009, he was slinging the ball around like I had never seen him before in 07 or 08. So I thought maybe Tommy could to, but apparently not so according to this board.

This board also predicted that JFK would be the first 6 term president, and that Rock and Roll music was just a fad that would die out.

Ok, I meant range in pass coverage. He has good straight line speed, which you saw, but his lateral movement doesn't seem to be good. He looked slow out in the flats. Niklas seemed to look quicker and be able to cover more ground, which you need since the dog normally plays the field side.

I think he is much better at getting after the QB than playing coverage, aka cat.

And another thing, that defense was not as bad as advertised. Those kids played hard, they flew to the ball and played a big game against big, bad Notre Dame. I give them a ton of credit for the way they played and for their game plan. They were very well prepared for this tilt.

Big Bad Notre Dame good try we have not eanred big or bad yet

It's called "Confidence"....

Putting the ball where you want it to be.

"Confidence"

Being able to rip a cover 2 right up the seam with help over top...

"Confidence"

Again, I think you're way too enamored with arm strength. Crist, Brady, Tommy, etc... were no different. When confident in others around you, and in turn, they're confident in you, all things click. There's a reason that Tommy targets Floyd and Eifert....

"Confidence"

* Tommy Rees is a below average quarterback, at best.

* We have a very good running back duo.

* Michael Floyd was completely silent today.

* Nobody really noticed, but Theo Riddick had a nice game today. 6 catches, 52 yards.

* Tyler Eifert is awesome. So clutch. Amazing hands.

* Pass blocking was eh. Run blocking was slightly less eh.

* Taylor Dever is a mediocre player.

* Our run defense is awesome. Aside from one big 45 yard run, Ray Graham didn't do anything.

* Much better pass rush than in previous weeks. 5 sacks.

* Darius Fleming made some huge plays. The beautiful play inside the five where he kept contain and forced Graham out of bounds for a loss, the two sacks.

* Our linebackers are awful in pass coverage.

* Gary Gray usually has good coverage, but he's just useless with the ball in the air.

* Robert Blanton played well again.

* Zeke Motta is a horrible player. He's just too slow.

* Ben Turk actually had a decent game.

* Atkinson is our kick returner. Nearly broke another one today.

* Kelly was outcoached today.

* Jonas Gray continues to prove everyone wrong. Averaging almost 70 yards per game over the last three weeks.

Agreed with alot of this.

You can add Trevor Robinson to this, and Braxton needs to get his head on straight.

HCTI, Im sorry my friend but I will very respectfully disagree with some of what you've said in this thread. Even Urban Meyer said today that it was time for Brian Kelly to really consider a quarterback change. He knows a little something about coaching.

Tommy played terrible today. Again, Im not saying that Crist is the definitive answer. In fact, Im glad Im not coaching because I dont know what the answer is. But if everytime a team double teams Michael Floyd, Rees gets "lost"..... thats not a good sign. Riddick and TJ are solid recievers that just simply arent getting enough looks. Every team should just put their entire defensive backfield on Floyd and watch Tommy get lost in what to do.

I dont think its the end of the world if Rees remains the starting quarterback. I will just prepare myself for an 8-4 season at best. This team is to talented to be 8-4.

Agree 100%. Utilize the strengths of the playmakers you have. Riddick is explosive on crossing routes. Get him the ball in space coming across the field and let him go to work.

TJ is solid on out routes, curl routes, etc. He is a solid possession reciever. Use what you have with different skill sets.

I believe Meyer said that because our O was stagnant at that point and it was before the TD drive.

The Good
1. Ben Turk was fantastic today

2. Jonas Gray and Cierre Wood are turning out to be a pretty good 1-2 punch at RB.

3. Tyler Eifert is proving again that ND is Tight End U.

4. I finally saw Shembo and Flemming playing the way they finished the year last year.

5. Our defensive line did a great job against the run today except for that one run Graham broke

6. We won a game without Floyd having huge numbers. This is important because Floyd is gone next year and we need to know that we have other great players on offense, too.

7. Defense came up with a stop late in the 4th quarter with the game on the line.

8. The offense successfully ran out the clock late in the 4th quarter to prevent Pitt from getting the ball back.

9. Te'o, Slaugher, and Harrison Smith all tackled well.

10. Rees 8-for-8 drive for the TD.

11. Rees scrambling for a first down for the first time this season, I believe.

The Bad

1. Tommy Rees looked like he took a major step back today. He looked awful most of the game

2. The offensive line looked like the offensive line that used to allow Jimmy Clausen to take a beating every game and not like the offensive line that played so well the first 3 games.

3. We lost the turnover battle again and made multiple personal fouls.

4. Rees fumbles the ball every time he gets hit from the side. Notice how Pitt's QB didn't fumble ever and we completely blindsided him a couple of times.

5. We were outcoached. It looked like Pitt's defense had us completely caught off guard. What did they do that was so surprising? It's quite obvious that teams are going to try and take Floyd out of the game and to be honest we have enough weapons on offense that we should be licking our chops if they double team him.

6. What happened to David Ruffer this year? I know that the snap was bad but still...

7. Ever since Golden Tate left, our best case scenario on punt returns is a John Goodman fair catch.

8. I understand why Calabrese might struggle in coverage but why can't he tackle this year? Up until he was injured last year he was a ferocious tackler.

9. Dan Fox is horrible.

10. Do our opponents ever miss a field goal against us? Ever?

11. When it was 4th-and-20, i was screaming all i want from this punt is a Goodman fair catch. Even a monster punt and we get the ball around the 50 yard line. I don't understand why rush the punter there. Even if it technically was a ticky-tack call on Collingsworth, i still don't think the risk is worth the reward. We stopped them, it was 4th down, and we were going to get the ball back up 1 in great field position. Why call for a punt rush there??

Plays of the Game (in no particular order)

1. Rees' QB sneak on 4th and 1. Consider me pessimistic, but if he doesn't get it we either lose or go to OT.

2. Jonas Gray's huge TD run. It was pretty much the only good thing we did on offense in the first 3 quarters of the game.

3. Harrison Smith's tackle on Graham by the shoelace in the 2nd quarter. If Smith doesn't make that tackle Graham was ready for a huge run.

4. Prince Shembo chasing down Graham and catching him from behind. That saved us 7 points right there.

5. Cierre Wood's gutty run on 3rd and 3 on that game-winning drive right after he got hurt.

6. Eifert's first down catches at the end of the 1st half. We didn't get any points out of them because Ruffer missed the FG but it at least prevented Pitt from getting the ball back and scoring at least 3 points.

7. Stopping Pitt on the 2-point conversion

8. Converting our 2-point conversion

9. The drop by Pitt's Street on the 50 yard pass play.

10. Eifert's TD, obviously. Watching that replay makes me see that if Rees threw it half a second later it's probably an INT for a TD.

11. Lynch's sack with about 4 minutes left on 1st-and-10 right after Pitt was driving down the field and only about 10 yards away from FG range.

Crossing routes is what Rees needs you can't ask him to throw the ball more then 20 yards. He is a slant.crossing type QB.

The Good:

-My Nachos were superb. Little bit of salsa, little bit of jalapeno. Perfection.

-WE WON THE GAME!!!!! Yay!!!!!

-Had more nachos and they were still delicious, but this time, mixed in some flavored ground beef. Pretty pleased with myself, really.

The Bad and Ugly.... Who gives a crap. We won. Go Irish.

Yes, it's a good thing that we didn't ask him to throw a 20+ yard fade to TJ Jones, against Michigan State. NO WAY does Tommy Rees make that throw!!

There was a ton of good, bad and ugly but we walked away with a win. I do think our cryptonite is a mobile QB. Other than that Fox had a less than stellar performance, and our freshman stepped up once again when we needed them.

Well a win is surely better than a loss, but to find anything that was good about that game is damn near impossible. The only thing good about the drive to take the lead in the 4th was that the receivers making great plays to extend the drive. The TD pass was too late and we are lucky it wasn't knocked away or picked off. Luckily Eifert had go-go gadget legs to get up in the air for some of the passes too. Theo's catch was a TERRIBLE throw. If that pass was on the mark he would have easily gotten at least 10-15 more yards.

Tommy was terrible today. There is no excuse for his play. He is extremely lucky that he wasn't benched. People on here talking about how crappy Dayne is/was compared to Rees are flat out delusional. They are equally bad. Dayne will stutter drives with worm burners, but Rees will turn the ball over with terrible decisions.

This offense is plain jane vanilla with Tommy on the field, and the opponents are easily adjusting to any of our strong suits. I haven't seen a single deep ball all season. If the TE is streaking down the seam and goes to far, Tommy won't throw the ball (I have seen this happen at least 4 times) Tommy makes his mind up before he takes the snap and doesn't do a single check down.

And finally to everybody saying 6-1 for Tommy... Seriously? He's almost averaging 3 TO's a game this year. Saying that he just wins is utter BS. If he would'nt of caused the TO's to begin with he'd be 7-0 according to all of you guys. He has been lucky to benefit from a good defensive output that hides his terrible performances.

Hendirx/Golsen/Crist- None of them could do any worse than what Tommy has given.
