The refs were bad, but that attempt by Bennett and Farley on that pass was hilarious. I was literally laughing. Bennett was clueless, and Farley showing his amazing leaping ability by not getting to the ball.

The whole running outside to avoid Donald is horsecrap. Nix is one of the best DTs in the nation and Pitt ran effectively inside. Thought I would feel better today but the longer the day goes the more pissed I get. Good teams don't lose to teams like Pitt. Look at their wins this year. What an embarrassment.

Who thought Notre Dame was legitimately good? The Irish can play with anyone when they bring their A-game, and earned some impressive wins like Michigan State, Arizona State, and Southern Cal. But they also **** the bed from time to time, e.g. Michigan and Pittsburgh.

If the focused Irish come to play, they can certainly beat BYU.

Besides turnovers...what has me scratching my head is it's no secret tr is limited in his skill set. Having said that one thing I have been screaming for all year is some draw plays in the running game....I would think it would help....only other complaint is why in the hell the offense is constantly trying to go for the homerun....with a depleted defense shouldn't we be trying to find a way to sustain a drive and let the defense rest...to me the.longer the defense stays on the field the more injuries are going to happen and makes it easier for opposing offenses to adjust...who knows maybe this is all part of bk master plan

Yeah, I had to laugh too. Farley whiffs, and Bennett is in that same stupid Gary Gray position waiting for the receiver to catch the ball in the endzone. It looks like a little kid trying to stop his big brother during a game of monkey in the middle haha.

The good, the bad, the ugly: Notre Dame vs. Pitt | Inside the Irish

And probably the greatest news I've heard from BK all year - if it involves changes at safety and corner.

If there’s one silver-lining in all of this, Kelly made a very important point during his postgame comments, and we’ll likely see a change at a few key positions that continue to underperform.

“We’ll go in Monday and put this behind us from a film standpoint. We won’t put this behind us from an evaluation standpoint, but we’ll put it behind us in terms of the game itself,” Kelly said. “We’ll weight train on Tuesday and then I’ll kind of make my decision as to how we move forward the rest of the week.”

I don't know why we're arguing about GA3. He didn't lose us the game. Kelly knows his backs better than we do. You guys are also making too much of Folston's game vs. Navy. It was vs. Navy. He got hot in the second half against a worn down, undersized Navy D. Since he had the hot hand BK stuck with him. Any one of our backs, except Amir because he sucks, could have run for over 100 yards against Navy. TF is definitely the future of this team at RB but he's not so far ahead of GA3 and Cam as you guys make him out to be. And if anyone thinks Amir is a better option at RB than GA3, they clearly haven't been watching this season.

I think the series of plays that sums up the offensive identity of this team was the first and goal at the six inch mark.

First goal at the six inch line.

1.We run up the gut with Cam. We get stonewalled.

Second down at the six inch line.

2. Fade to Jones

Third down at the six inch line.

3. Was it a jet sweep to a motioning TJ Jones? He makes a couple of nice moves to score.

When you think about the quality of linemen we have and the quality of backs we have, getting six inches should not require trickery.

I wish Kelly could emphasis running the ball inside the redzone more, and also if he could be more patient with the running game like he was last year. The OL has played noticeably better this year.

It wasn't the yardage against Navy that impressed my about Folston, it was the way he ran, ie, his physical skills. But I, at least, am not arguing that he supplant GA; GA has elite speed, if not elite instincts, and has earned totes. But Folston also deserved more than four carries. I'd have run both of them 10 or more times. So my complaint is with the game plan. As I've said, people who know more than me about a given subject make mistakes all the time; knowledge doesn't equate with judgment. So I don't just automatically defer to the judgment coaches or CEOs or presidents. Of course, I may be wrong on occassion, too.... ;)

Nonsense. GAIII's speed blows the doors off of Folston. Folston is a good all purpose back, but saying he can run outside like GAIII is stupidity. Against Oklahoma, Folston got run down by a safety. GAIII was gone and nobody was going to catch him. Against Navy, GAIII blew past Navy's safety's like they were standing still on his long inside run. Folston punished them, but couldn't run past them.

They are different backs with different skill sets and we are fortunate to have both.

GAIII can rip off a 50 yard run at any time. Kelly know this, which is why GAIII is going to continue to be a mainstay in the rotation. It is Cam who is going to be left behind in the dust by Folston and Bryant, who have similar skill sets but better speed and power

GAIII averaged 9.4 ypc last night, came into the game averaging 5.9 and all you guys do is rip him. It is lunacy.

The problem is GAIII is nothing more than a home run threat, he does nothing well aside from greasy, fast speed. He's good for one big run every 3 games or so, then you hear nothing from him. He's the perfect example of inconsistency, not someone you want as your starting back. If you take away George's two big runs this season his yards per carry are less than any of the other backs except Carlisle I think. Cam's gotten the most carries, and a lot of those carries came against teams late in games when they knew we were going to run the ball. GAIII doesn't fight for yards like Cam or Folston do, he hits a defender and goes down. I mean, he was getting dropped by Air Force defenders that were much smaller than him. He should be able to break some tackles at his size, but he consistently gets brought down on first contact. He doesn't catch the ball well, he doesn't run between the tackles well, and while he's not a horrible blocker, there are better blockers in our backfield. GAIII is not a complete back, he has one thing and one thing alone that he has going for him: speed. Thats the only reason he still gets carries. It's why he's seen reduced carries after the Arizona State game.

You play division 1 college football you should be focused all the time. That's the problem with this team they only seem focused when THEY want to be.

I think thats because of lack of leadership. Who's the leader of this team? I have no idea and from what i can see theres no leadership. Bennet Jackson loves posting pics of himself on the internet but maybe he should own up to that C on his jersey and be a leader. Someone take charge of the team

99% if the teams in the country have bad games. Unfocused is just one of many adjectives to describe it. You can't play "up" every game, as frustrating as it is; this is why scheduling needs a major overhaul.

Schedule overhaul Pitt, Navy, Air force, Temple, are not good teams. Good schools have a bad game or 2. We have had a game or 2 good. The ASU game and Air Force game. Other then that our games haven't been good.

And Teams like Purdue you shouldn't have to play up to when you are a far and away more talented then them.

On the first INT, why do you roll out Rees? How many F'n times have we seen Rees struggle rolling out? Why do you call a roll out?

The second INT was more trying to make up for the first. He was clearly shaken.

On the first, he breaks the cardinal rule of playing QB and throws across his body to the middle the field.

On the 2nd, he was spooked by the rush and lofted the ball over the receiver.

Tough loss fellas, still a few games left to end on a strong note. The Golson will be back soon, maybe Tuitt decides to stay, finish strong in recruiting and feel optimistic about the future. I really only have two complaints about last night and that was not playing to the whistle on the sack/fumble and not committing to the running game. Gonna miss watching TJ too. Keep your heads up gang, it's never as bad as it seems.

You won't find a post of mine that says a word about the speed of GA III compared to Folston. Takes a lot more than speed to be a good runner. I don't care if GA III can rip of a long run at any time. Why keep running him when you don't know when any time will come. I'll take the consistency we will get with Folston over the break 1 our of every 10 runs for good yardage of GA III any day of the week. Folston is more than servicable outside.

Having a RB, young or not, run over, around, and thru a team the week before then get a handful of carries the next is pathetic. And don't use the 'we played a different team' excuse. He didn't see the ball enough to see what he was capable of against Pitt. Instead we put it on Tommy's shoulders.

They hyperbolic stupidity is reaching new levels here.

Notre Dame Individual Rushing Statistics

Running downhill running is running in a straight line you dummy.

I swear, it isn't even worth my time.

Goodbye.

We don't agree often, but I do respect your opinion and post and I think they add value to the site. However, going down the road of attacking posters, being dismissive to those who don't see it your way takes away from them.

Coming into the season did you have better expectations than 8 wins? Did you think this current roster was National Championship bound?

If you say yes to both, then I understand your frustration. If you said no, then why the bitching?

I was one that posted before the post-season that I would be happy at 8-4 or 9-3. Well on that way. I HATED to lose to Pitt, I thought those losses would have come from ASU or MSU ~ thats where my frustration comes from. Is WHO we lost to.

You gotta stop making excuses for this underachieving team. There is absolutely no excuse for playing so horribly against an inferior Pitt team. It's not that we didn't play "up", it's that we consistently play "down."

I don't know if you're being obtuse so I will give you the benefit of the doubt. If you want to include Diz and a GO IRISH!!!! in every single post you make, just create a signature. Then other posters and I have the option of not seeing it every single post.

You expected more from this team this year? I'm sorry. 10-2 was a long shot unless our defense played masterfully again. Our defense is beat up and we haven't been as aggressive as we were last year. If we weren't going to focus on the run game and play action passes, and the defense wasn't going to play lights out or at least close to it, then it was a recipe for 3-5 losses.

They have not constantly played that badly. Stop thinking that they they have.

I think we have fairly consistently played poorly. I've been very disappointed in 6 of our games.

If I had to honestly grade our performances this year, I would say:

Temple: C+ (they're terrible)
Michigan: C- (they're an avg Big10 team)
Purdue: C- (they're terrible, worst AQ team)
Michigan State: B+ (great win)
Oklahoma: C+ (they were blown out by Tex/Baylor)
Arizona State: A- (probably our best game)
USC: B+ (defense was amazing, O was good with Rees)
Air Force: A- (they're terrible but we blew them out)
Navy: C (good offense, very very bad defense)
Pitt: C- (this team lost to Duke)

In my simple opinion, we've played well in 4 games and poorly in 6. We just were lucky enough that Temple, Purdue, and Navy are terrible.

I predicted 8-4 for this team and I still think it is going to be true, when we lost Golson we lost a lot and this defense has lost a lot. We could have been 9-3 but lets be honest. This team did lose a lot of leadership. And good luck finding a much better D-coordinator than Diaco even LSu has given up a ton of points this year. It happens.
