Coming from the guy that thinks its ok to tweet recruits as long as they think what they are posting is positive.

If you have a problem with people tweeting recruits, take it up with TurningPoint, who does it regularly. Do you have a problem with him doing it? I don't.

Do you have a problem with this, which Nyles Morgan just retweeted?

@Obey_Pride hope you enjoyed the game! ND nation would love to have you in the family!

I don't.

So, uh... are we going to discuss the game? Or am I mistaken in thinking that the purpose of this thread was to discuss our performance today?

Oh, so now I'm "drive by." Talk about being isolated and marginalized ;)....Of course, this conflicts with the "think more, post less" lesson I thought was the main lesson for novices.

I thought it was read more post less?

Do you have a problem with the dude that posted the disparaging tweet to McKenzie's girlfriend? He thought that he was being positive. He just didn't have a clue. But according to you, since his intent was good, then "no problem" right?

Give me a break.

TP has actual ties to the recruits and talks to them in "real life", so it's not like he is texting as a fan. Don't compare the two, they are totally different.

You have to cover the thread high-jacking and end with something like "ND kicked their ass! "

That's what I did anyway. I laughed too, when I first read some of the posts.

Yes… that is the main lesson for novices. Someone that posts here daily for years is not a novice. They have spent the time and energy contributing to the board and building the culture.

I don't see you as a novice, btw.

I'm just curious...would a Fieldturf surface be any less slippery in the snow/ice?

I'm from Canada (Alberta no less) I will handle this inquiry as I have some expertise. Fieldturf is definitely less slippery in the snow and ice if it is properly maintained. Ice is only a factor on old-school astro-turf which becomes a skating rink when there is precipitation and sub-zero temperature. Snow can be more effectively removed from fieldturf with snowblower tractors (essentially a ride on lawn tractor with a vacuum cleaner type broom). Using snow removal on grass leaves either mud or ice behind. The depth of the bristles on the fieldturf allows better (not perfect) traction when ice forms and ice forms less readily because snow can be more efficiently removed.

Was it disparaging? I thought he just piggy backed her tweet and turned it into somethn about Mckenzie, in a creepy stalker fashion.

I never saw the tweet. Not sure what you're talking about.

I've always said 1) it has to be positive and 2) it has to be accurate. So if this guy who tweeted a gf 'didn't have a clue', it doesn't exactly align with my opinion, does it (accuracy)?

My point is Turningpoint is not affiliated with Notre Dame. It's not like he has personal relationships with the kids he tweets.

But we can ignore TP. Did you have a problem with Whiskeyjack tweeting ROI information at Tee Shephard when Tee openly asked about that information?

I didn't. If you did have a problem with Whiskeyjack doing that, then that's fine. But I don't share your feeling.

Do they have like a sub-floor heating unit underneath or would be an electrocution hazzard?

I didn't.

The tweet in question was retweeting his girlfriend's tweet referring to her acceptance into IU and he added that "now McKenzie just needs to get his academics in order". Which was BOTH 1) In his opinion, positive and 2) Accurate.

It pissed McKenzie off royally (and rightfully so) and could effect us going forward. But according to you, its totally fine, right?

TP is tweeting to people he actually knows and talks to. He reports, does interviews and presents information that has been ok'd by those recruits. Comparing his conversations with those of Star69 or Fister is so inaccurate that it's insulting. But keep trying.

Lol, I'm not going to write a twitter law book with articles and sections, you have to have discretion, the 1/2 is simply a guideline.

Obviously that was a dumb thing to tweet out. Most people are not intelligent enough and know how to draw lines, even if they follow 1/2, which is why I've always said it's best to NOT tweet at them at all. But you leave out that convenient detail.

And I doubt TP talks to every recruit he tweets at, but maybe you know better than I.

Can we ignore TP since he's a-typical, not necessarily being just a fan, but not necessarily having an affiliation with ND?

You seem convinced that one size fits all, so you have a problem with Whiskeyjack tweeting out requested college information? This is an example of a responsible, intelligent football fan tweeting a recruit in a completely harmless fashion. I have ZERO problem with this type of a tweet.

But.. but… but… you said said that it's ok to tweet recruits!!!

It's pretty simple dude. You claimed to have this rule about whats ok to tweet to recruits despite 99% of this board, the University itself and anybody with a brain disagreeing with you. I gave you a clear example of a tweet that clearly fit within your "rules" of tweeting recruits, and it simply proved the rest of the board's point that its not ok to tweet to recruits if you are simply a fan.

That being said, TP isn't "just a fan". Let me ask you, how many interviews have you done with recruits/players? How many articles have you written with information given to you from recruits/players? How many recruiting experts are in regular contact with you?

None.. that's the answer.

Right, I did. And I gave you an example of one of the few times I've seen it happen in a harmless way.

I'll ask a 3rd time, do you have a problem with a fan tweeting out ROI information to a recruit openly requesting college information?

If you don't have a problem with this instance, then you agree with me. That there are opportunities where it is OK to do so.

Came here looking for some good postgame analysis. Instead I see petty back and forth bitching. Come on, IE.

Lol, nothing in life is that simple, unfortunately. You're trying to quantify it so you can understand it, but obviously tweeting at recruits should only be done by responsible, intelligent people who know how to manage social media and understand where the line is drawn (which isn't a lot of people).

It's not a 'rule', more like a guideline. See above post.

Sorry guys, but he started it! lol.

If I'm going to get called out out of no where, I'm going to defend myself and hear him out. Mods can delete if they want - apologize for this mess.

Here's your answer… in most cases, no. When Whiskey did it… he had a bunch of people, including people like TP, telling him to do so. It wasn't done with the reckless abandon that you claim to think as acceptable.

I, like everyone else with a brain on this board, believes that if you aren't someone that has reasonable relationships revolved around recruiting, then you have no business reaching out to recruits. It's pretty simple and I really don't get what your issue with it is. If you are just a fan, you shouldn't be reaching out to 17 year old kids that are considering the school. We have well paid, intelligent people doing that.

But yeah… a dude that just got banned from a Notre Dame message board should be the judge of whats appropriate to tweet to these young men.

So you agree that there are situations where it's OK for a fan to tweet a recruit, even though it should only be done in certain situations by responsible people?

I'm glad we agree.

And your comment: 'in most cases... no'.

I totally agree.

Not sure what we're arguing about now that we've established the above.

You can't make this s*** up. Culture?? The guy succinctly pointed out the obvious; and because he isn't one of the "elders", he gets talk down to as though he is an idiot. That is BS. Farley has played awful. If you need data points then you don't watch the games and you have NO credibility. That is my two cents regarding the tiff.

Regarding the game, I loved it. The offensive gameplan played to our strengths. Limiting Tommy to manageable throws and not to many 3rd and longs. RBs all contributed. Daniels and TJ played to their level. I have to say that we have something special in the Robinson kid. That was a tough catch at a critical time. Great hands.

Defense played well. Tuitt is a man. Man he will be difficult to replace. Jarron showed he has the physicals tools to make plays and he did. Given that, Jarron has a ways to go...BYU basically left him unaccounted for..that will change. Fox played the best game of his career.

Special teams aside from Brindza sucked. Kickoff/punt coverage was atrocious.

No complaints with the gameplan. The gameplan focused on our strengths.

On to Stanford.
