On a positive note, this is exactly how I want to see a Notre Dame athlete handle themselves after a loss: head up, accepting responsibility, not blaming teammates, honest.
On a negative note 'I got hit in the side of the head, felt a little dizzy and couldn't see out of my right eye" is one thing: a concussion. I had a buddy I played hockey with in college, we used to jokingly call him "scramby" because he'd had so many concussions his brains were like scrambled eggs. He had to quit his junior year; 3 years after hanging up his skates he still will have weeks at a time when he's dizzy, easily confused, nauseous and gets headaches. It only gets worse from there.
Today was an intense, emotional game. We needed Crist. The kid's a stud. But it was a game. I could give a flying f**k about the play-calling, playing a player if there's even a possibility that he could be concussed is reckless.
