The secondary was horrendous, GAIII looked great, both lines did well, Golson had some solid throws, Te'o was great.

Theo ran hard. Loved seeing him lower his shoulder and hit the defender on carry after carry. Really set the tone for the game- we were better than Navy and we were going to prove it.

Let's hear 'em. Great win today.

First of all.., Awesome beatdown! I Really enjoyed seeing our Offensive Line and Defensive Lines dominate. To be honest it all starts in the trenches and our boys did an outstanding job! Love the effort our boys showed!!!!

Still see some areas that need work, but couldnt be happier to beat Navy the way we should. Solid run game, and pretty stout against the run = chance to make a good run if the secondary can step it up some.

*Kelly/Martin are playing to our strength: Good offensive line, good stable of backs with little dropoff.

*Daniels is going to be good.

*It's been a long time since we've had a "take it to the house" tailback like GA3.

*Golson is accurate and can extend plays. He will experience some growing pains.

*Our front 7 is good, though I wish we had some more depth with our down linemen.

*We will need a speed rusher against MSU/OU/USC. Does Prince have what it takes?

*Motta is slow. Every passing team will pick on him.

*I expect that our corners won't be doing a lot of press coverage this year. We will give up some long, frustrating drives to good passing teams.

* Eifert will catch fewer passes, but its nice to have him as an option in clutch situations.

* I was surprised Koyack dropped a couple of easy passes.

* Also surprised Hendrix didn't look more comfortable in the pocket.

* I expect Neal to play more and more as the season progresses. We need more speed on the outside at WR. The key for him will be his ability to block. I also hope he gets up to speed on punt returns. He was tentative today.

Agreed! Hes playing like hes got something to prove because he does! And its wonderful, it will make Cierre that much better as well, knowing he has to compete to keep his starting position.
The secondary...God helps us! Wow, that could be the season, I'm really worried. What can we do about it?!

I think part of the reason we struggled against the pass because we weren't game planning for it.

Yeah I forgot to add that.
Hendrix looked pretty bad! Seemed like he was very depressed and he was not performing well at all.
Kind of scary that hes the backup... Gunner here we come?

Ishaq, Tuitt, and Te'o were awesome, as were others on D, but they stood out. We have a lot of speed. Our run game is solid: no balls on the ground, run hard, fast, find the holes, and finish. Golson looked a lot more comfortable than Hendrix. Punt return blocking still looks not great. Great win. Neal has great hands and will do damage if he gets near open space. Niklas has great hands. Love how the D swarms the ball.

I think Mayock is pretty good.

GA3/Riddick/Cam/Wood Monster rushing attack this season.

Golson is going to be good, and him a DaVaris Daniels are going to be a monster tandem.

Like everyone expected our secondary is our weakness, but our D will still be nasty.

They may not have gameplanned for the passing game, but it looked like Keivarae had pretty poor technique, and he got burned by a Navy WR. If Russell and Motta are on the same side of the field, any team can pass at will. It will be interesting to see how they do against Purdue.

I certainly hope not. I think Andrew just needs to gain a little game day confidence and he will be a solid back-up. BK knew this and put him in at the end. It will work out.

The Good
O-Line looked great besides the sack of Golson
D-Line looked great in particular Tuitt (though KAP also played really well)
As usual Teo was great
Riddick, GA3, and even Cam all looked very good to great at RB. Nice depth even with Wood and Carlisle out.
Golson played solid. His passes had nice zip and he was accurate but he was staring down his receivers.
Players getting their first experience seemed to play well (shumate on special teams, Farley on defense, and Daniels playe pretty well but had one really lazy route).

The Bad
Slaughter wasn't as involved as I would have expected.
Koyak had problems catching the ball
We seem to like grabbing facemasks.
Hendrix did not look comfortable out there. He seemed to have happy feet, and was slow at making decisions.

The Ugly
XP's whether kicking or catching the snap.
Pass coverage. I think this will get better as the season goes on but we will find out more next week when we play Purdue.
Motta. Missed tackles, not very good at covering. Rough.

No, it's that we're just pitiful back there. That comment is used when you actually play a decent opponent, not Navy.

But other than that....Oline is solid. GAIII was money and gives us the big play ablity. Theo is a little guy, but drops that shoulder and runs hard.

Golson was decent. Clock problems and some missed open guys are gonna happen with a young QB, but he looks liek the kinda guy that will be at award shows later on in his career.

Teo was money, but what did you expect? Front 7 played very well.

Hope they get the secondary cleaned up...or we're gonna get torched. Not just by USC, OU...but BYU and Purdue as well.

Cam M looked great!

yup!

secondary is definitely a concern. didnt see jamoris in that hybrid OLB role as much, i guess it wasnt needed(?).

im on the golson wagon--i guess i have been all spring, since b&g game. was a believer in hendrix since midway thru last year.

ishaq is really important on 3rd down

loved seeing toma get some love

eiffert will drop in production but that is not a bad thing if others are open.

DO IT TUITT! seriously. beast.

riddick and GA3 didnt have me at a "cierre who" mode, but damn it was close, no?

tj had a pretty solid game. good to see. pretty decent in run support. couple nice stabs and decent RAC.

Manti is a top 5 pick.

where were the other frosh??

He will improve, he has been at CB for 3 weeks. A little patience.

Yeah it was italized as sarcastic. I think your right... I hope you are. I guess Kelly knew he needed the reps more than Golson.

Up:

Theo Riddick/GA3: Both looked solid.

Golson: Good outing for his first college game.

Front 7: Dominated the run.

Three Down:
Koyack's Hands

Secondary- We were repeatedly beat against Navy's new QB and against their second and third string WRs. Doesn't project well.

Special Teams: Bad punting, bad returns, bad kicking.

Want to wait and see on the OL. I liked what I saw, but Navy's DL is by far the smallest we'll see.

Motta is slow

the secondary obviously needs lo wood

o-line as potential to be one of the nations best
(but navys d-line is kinda a push over so dont get too excited yet)

golson needs more game experience

all in all i wanna see how we fare against better opponets before is start saying we ARE good/bad at a particular area
