The qualifications for being elected to Congress don't weed out the scumbags. Too many people say, "Yeah, he's a lowlife, crooked, dishonest thief, but he's OUR lowlife, crooked, dishonest thief and he'll look out for us." That's how so many of them get elected to Congress. As long as they're sending money back to their district, they keep getting elected.

I've been STRONGLY in favor of term limits for decades. I think it solves a LOT of our political problems. Jefferson viewed being a Senator or Congressman as a temporary "do your civic duty" thing... a man of the community who goes there to do his duty, stays a few years, then goes back home. It was NEVER intended to be a career, especially a career to enrich yourself.

I couldn't agree more on congressional accountability, limiting campaign finance contributions, and insider trading, but that video seemed suspicious - 80 congressmen arrested for drunk driving in the past year? Fact checkers point to an un-sourced blog post from 1999 as the source of this stats. Seems that, at a minimum, there's no data to back this up.

No one is disagreeing with it being a felony to traffic 16 and 17 year olds. The issue is around the "buying" end of things and Krell trying to wedge something into the bill at the last second.
