I agree with you and I think we’re saying basically the same thing.

The big tech firms in the US have become bloated monopolies that are hindering creativity.

I don't know how true that statement is. I don't doubt that they are probably bloated, but these tech companies usually have three groups of programmers. Those that support the app in it's current state, those that work on enhancements & fixes to the current application and a group that spends their time in a creative mode trying to think of and develop the next "hot" application.

IBM pioneered this concept back in the 60's. They had a special research group in White Plains that did nothing but "blue sky" ideas for development.

I have my reservations on AI basically taking over everything. There's no doubt it's another milestone in IT. I've been in IT since '72 and new developments over the years were supposed to speed things up, automate things and eliminate the human factor. Yet here we are. IT careers have grown from Computer Operator and Programmer, to disciplines in hardware ,network, security, project management, EDI, PC support and infrastructure (Servers $ OS). In security alone you have network security, application security, endpoint security and web security.

If you look at Accounting, automating process like A/P & A/R have been around for a while, but you still need someone to verify things were processed successfully.

I am looking forward to see what AI can do in security. The human factor is still the biggest risk in keeping a companies data secure and still the primary reason companies get hacked.

Now I’m still supposed to believe these are the type of clowns who are gonna help make the government more efficient and save us all kinds of money?

They have their opinions and are welcome to express them. It doesn't mean they will be right. I could be wrong. I'm just going off of my experience working in this field probably longer than you've been alive. They developed their companies and products and can run it as they see fit. That bloated company is supplying jobs and last time I checked, even Biden likes that. If these tech companies bother you so much, maybe you should go old school and give up your smartphone, tablet, PC, etc.
