Unfortunately all the politicians that come from Baltimore are crooked. You had O’Malley that had the jail scandal the started to unfold while he was running for governor as well.

But in this case you can’t help connections like this. It’s a conflict on interest. And I know it happens all the time in politics but you would think these people would have enough people around them to say umm this isn’t a good idea.

Guess it depends on your definition of strength. Seeing a certain section of society being scared of very small population who just wants to belong and live a normal life - that does not give off the appearance of strength. Nobody thinks back to the school bully in reference to those that are "strong". Picking on long hanging fruit (pun not intended lol) does not make someone "strong".
