LMAO - Hyperbolic. I literally just wanted it pointed out (using his own words) that he admired Hitler. That's all. White-knighting for IMC is a new low. No need to fill the depends here, all I wanted to see is better sourcing because of IMC's history.

I never called anyone an Nazi. I said that IMC made comments on Reddit that he admired Hitler. No need to twist and turn straw-manning or gaslighting away here. Just own it, he's a shit person and a shit source. I get you're embarrassed, but don't make stupid claims that I called everyone a Nazi - please put my comments in your quotes to
show where I called everyone a Nazi :)

ANYWAYS - Thank you for posting a local CBS/KOIN reporter that had firsthand proof of the events. Looks horrible that any group would burn any book with religious meaning, really don't understand why someone would do that.

Practice what you preach. I already owned it & for some reason you want your boots licked. Where did I “white-knight” for Choeng?. You continually get your Lululemon shorts in a wad when someone points out a Lefty or even a Dem has Commie beliefs, connections, or sympathies despite equal to more evidence that they are (in comparison to Cheong).

ANYWAYS...thanks for FINALLY addressing the actual intent of the post before you introduced us to the Asian Hitler to avoid actually addressing the query.

White Supremacists in Law Enforcement

White Supremacists in Law Enforcement

Rooting out these individuals who have infiltrated police department throughout the country is a big task for city and police chiefs as well as our national watchdogs. Probably no one this site is unaware of the problem. The FBI warned of the problem in 2006 when W. Bush was President, publishing a document that was heavily redacted for the public.
FBI warned of white supremacists in law enforcement 10 years ago. Has anything changed?
(PBS, Oct 21, 2016)

Neither the FBI nor state and local law enforcement agencies have established systems for vetting personnel for potential supremacist links. That's left to citizens and non-profit groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center.

The memo also warned of “ghost skins,” hate group members who don’t overtly display their beliefs in order to “blend into society and covertly advance white supremacist causes.”

“At least one white supremacist group has reportedly encouraged ghost skins to seek positions in law enforcement for the capability of alerting skinhead crews of pending investigative action against them,” the report read.

In 2009, the Department of Homeland Security issued a report on right-wing extremism and its relationship to “violent radicalization” in the United States.

A classified FBI Counterterrorism Policy Guide from April 2015 notes that “domestic terrorism investigations focused on militia extremists, white supremacist extremists, and sovereign citizen extremists often have identified active links to law enforcement officers.”

Also, an investigation published in 2019 by the Center for Investigative Reporting found that hundreds of active-duty and retired law enforcement officers are members of Confederate-sympathizing, anti-Islam, or anti-government militia groups on Facebook. Within these private groups, members often are openly racist. Police officers have also been linked to groups like the Oath Keepers and Three Percenters, who believe in defending white Americans from “enslavement” and are actively hostile to immigrants. The investigation identified active-duty and retired police officers as active members in explicitly racist Facebook groups such as “Veterans Against islamic Filth” (the group deliberately lowercases “Islamic” in its name) and “PURGE WORLDWIDE (The Cure for the Islamic disease in your country).”

From Cambridge Core, a review:
LIVING HISTORIES OF WHITE SUPREMACIST POLICING: Towards Transformative Justice

An article on the issues from the Intercept, Jan 2017:
https://theintercept.com/2017/01/31...-supremacist-infiltration-of-law-enforcement/

The question is what to do to root out these individuals and whether further investigative powers are necessary to restore confidence in communities.

The white power movement is waaaaay better organized and a waaaay bigger problem than ANTIFA.

The true believers in that movement are the scariest motherfuckers you’re ever going to meet.

Please tell me you didn’t use the Southern Poverty Law Center as a source to prove your point. Now it’s not just unions and lack of oversight groups, there are active white supremacist groups taking over police departments? You keep getting better with your disdain for police. Keep on googling fringe nonsense though, it’s fun to read.

I don't. You seem to be missing my points and the context within which they are made. Change is necessary. "Internal investigation" and departmental discipline does not work. We are at a point where the alternatives are firing, charging individual cops with crimes, paying huge amounts for lawsuits and cutting budgets in a time of city deficits.

Your welcome to post on how police have the support and confidence of the communities they serve and huge overtimes. Have you ever looked at a city's top ten earners, including overtime? In some midsize cities, nine of the ten highest paid city employees are cops.

As U.S. crime rates dropped, local police spending soared

I would imagine the majority of a city or towns citizens support the police. Do 10K people protesting represent the other 500K citizens? I doubt it. If they were that upset, they would probably be out there protesting with the others. Do those 500K support some changes for better policing? I suspect they do. The difference is you are looking for a massive overhaul and defunding, when in reality a smaller budget isn't going to help fix anything.

University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Criminology, has found that a higher number of sworn police officers can lead to a reduction in violent crime.

I hope they didn't spend too much time and money coming to that conclusion. You ever notice how speeders have a tendancy to slow down when police have their radar gun out?

Interesting commentary in that Hitler found a good deal of inspiration in the US as far as striving to be a “pure” ethnic state is concerned. The strange thing is that Germany by and large has disavowed its abhorrent ethnic purity campaign of the past. The president of the US on the other hand is openly advocating for clinging to monuments to and venerating said past.

Could anyone imagine a statue of Field Marshal Rommel in present day Berlin?

Hitler's bunker is literally a gravel parking lot in Berlin. Our tour guide's quote: "This is Hitler's bunker, not a place to memorialize, but a place where dogs can come to shit and piss."

Confidence in police to protect and serve and to treat you fairly depends on who you are and where you live. Overall, on a yes/no basis, confidence in police is historically in the mid 50%. In a recent polll, the results are black communities "great confidence" - 6%, a "fair amount" - 25%. 48& have no confidence. (Source)

We didn't use to have body cams, bystanders filming, business cams filming police actions. If you see those and don't see yourself or your children there, you don't care as much if at all. Certainly, it doesn't drive you to protest. You may be outraged by burning and looting and glad you live in the suburbs which is your community.

As for traffic, my city instituted traffic cams, which resulted in tons of violations. It also raised a hue and cry so much that they were eliminated and speeding went back to previously. That caused protesting. Raising taxes causes protesting. Of a different sort, I grant you.

I've posted on the PDs in Elkhart and SB. One can easily imagine the police coming to a party composed of 18-21 year olds blacks, where drugs are found, and someone flees into the back yard and starts to jump a fence. The cop thinks he sees a flash like a gun being pulled and kills the person, who was unarmed. "In fear for my life" meets the implied consent doctrine.

That cop may be a good one or may have a history and shouldn't have a badge. The farther you are from identifying with the victim psychologically or physically, the easier it becomes to still have confidence in the police.

And this still boils down to better qualifying of candidates when they apply for the police force and continuing evaluation once on the force.

Not directly related, but an unusual incident occured to me and my wife this week. Having a new A/C unit installed. Two guys are installing. One was a young black. I estimated his age to be 23-26. He's installing the thermostat when something comes on TV that makes him comment about about COVID and BLM. To paraphrase, he basically said, "just obey the law and you'll be fine". Granted that's just one individual, but it's an example that shows not every black feels the police are the enemy.

I believe that is the message black parents stress with their children. The vast majority of police are sincere and dedicated to their jobs, which is what has been conveyed to the young man by his parents and by those police who kneel with protestors. He also may have a different perspective of BLM than you.

then there are consent decrees and what they conclude and the requirements that must be met.

Now that the feds are gone we get to the heart of the problem that Portland and Portlanders have been dealing with. These people are anarchists and criminals. Local sources:

Sounds like something designed to discredit two of the most viral video posters of the violent protests.

Vox isn’t exactly a credible rag in most circles. Imagine me citing Alex Jones on a personal attack.

Vox is not remotely an equivalent to InfoWars.

Andy Ngo will go the way of Milo in due time.

I let him do most of the talking as I was curious about his opinions. We didn't get too deep, but we're on the same page. I'm fine with the changes that are called for as he is. Neither of us support the violence that some bring.

Good for Chicago and Lightfoot. Now let's deal with the same types in Portland. Arrest and book 'em with no bail. I doubt there will be any bail fund or volunteer lawyers. Issue a curfew, too.

Now in Chicago they are protesting for the people that got caught looting and got locked up. See no matter what you did you can’t fix stupid. And with all these kids having to learn on a computer the end of last school year and the beginning of this school year the country is going to be in trouble.

These riot and looting scenes are amazing. Almost as amazing as the media and Dems pissing on our heads and telling us it is raining. The number of people that lick it up and hate Trump for letting it happen - these are LOCAL problems and your LOCAL law enforcement/government is 150% responsible.

No need for a bail fund in Chicago with these prices!

Just like the violence in Portland was Trump's fault because of the presence of Federal Agents. Federal agents leave and there are still problems in Portland. Gosh, I wonder why that is?

It's just so flipping hilarious that some folks are still having the chicken or egg debate.

Is Trump responsible for looting? ANTIFA? Spineless progressive mayors letting people take over blocks of their city without repercussions? No.

Is Trump responsible for doing literally nothing over his Presidency to combat policing issues in this country? Yes. Is Trump responsible for his late and wholly inadequate response to George Floyd's murder? Also yes.

It's always the same people that complain about the irrational hate of Trump that then choose to hold him 0% accountable for his actions and the actions of his administration. Maybe, just maybe, some nuance is required to properly evaluate whose "fault" things are.

Agreed and I don't think he's publicly handled certain things well since the Pandemic started and some things thereafter. But, that's why I posted it in the Police State USA thread and not the Trump Presidency thread. Very specific issue to me.

Portland was burning before Federal Agents and Portland will burn after. It's Portland's fault and that's it. Being a 15 year resident of Portland it sickens me to see this which is the only reason I really ever comment on these topics.

I gotta agree with you here, and I feel It comes from his advisors for re-election. His core Is... to say the least, looked at as tribal and worried about the color of our skin more than the progression of our democracy. I'm positive that the nature of our politicians are rehearsed add numb....
I'm curious about what will happen If he gets re-elected. The press has deliberately created an atmosphere of hate toward him, and they don't speak well of his good policies/ same policies that the last 4 presidents have had..either.

It's as If our country Is a football game and the people are always on offense against the '85 Bears.

The blame game. China. All who protest. Players taking knees. Dem govs are snakes, incompetent, etc. In 2016, candidate Trump blamed a Rep Gov for a high crime rate. Unleashing dogs. He does nothing to work with Gov and mayors for appropriate federal intervention. Except he deprives them of federal gratnts - JAG grants and even promised revenue when they are now moving into Chicago, etc. - on the condition they report his immigration demands. No money to fund more officers, equipment, training from the feds per Donald Trump unless they comply. All hail the King. He's losing in court on all of these unconstitutional actions. Millions of dollare deprived from the same PDs and cities and small towns in those states that refuse his unconstitutional orders. These court cases have found for the states and cities through numerous Appeals Courts. The Trump Admin is considering appeal to SCOTUS. Meanwhile, all that money for extra police is held up. Not his fault - always. Agains and again. Our law and order President - blah, blah, blah. A political stunt. Trump and the DOJ need to end their appeals and release the needed money. His loves uneducated people.

The impact on small town, too:
Immigration dispute with Trump administration costs small Colorado towns

The dispute
Between 2005 and 2017, Colorado received nearly $40 million in Byrne JAG money, according to the state. In October 2018, the Justice Department sent Colorado a congratulatory letter and said it would be awarded about $2.8 million in Byrne JAG grants for fiscal year 2018.

But there was a catch. States must comply with Justice Department conditions to receive the grants, and the Trump administration added several related to immigration. Colorado would need to ensure all police agencies receiving money share information with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and allow ICE officers into their local jails.
Sending all this money to cities to fight crime - Just more BS
White House calls out Mayor Tim Keller over funding claims

Shortly after the announcement of Operation Legend, Albuquerque city officials highlighted a specific federal grant funding issue as a broken promise from the federal government. The Albuquerque Police Department was awarded around $10 million in federal funds from the COPS (Community Oriented Policing Services) program in early 2020.

The money is in part said to be available to spend on hiring more police officers. In a prior interview with KRQE News 13, Mayor Keller contended the federal government never delivered the money.

“We’ve had a lot of challenges where the federal government will work with us, say, ‘Yes,’ to a program and then either the check never comes in the mail, which is the case, we think, with roughly $10 million with this past operation,” Keller said in an interview with KRQE News 13 on July 23. “Or, they never sign off on the paperwork changes where we say, ‘well, we only wanted to do this,’ or, ‘we need it for that,’ and then literally just no one gets back to us, so this has been happening in a number of small ways throughout our relationship since the Trump Administration came into office.”

Statement from Gilbert Gallegos, Albuquerque Police Department spokesman
“We’re flattered that all of a sudden the White House is taking so much interest in Albuquerque, but anyone telling you we aren’t utilizing federal money is either out of touch or trying to score cheap political points. Crime has been a problem for a long time, and unlike President Trump, our officers do the hard work of fighting it every day. We’re actively looking for ways to make federal money work—but we won’t sell out our community for a bait and switch excuse to do low-level round ups or target communities of color. Albuquerque deserves legal transparency, in the form of the standard documentation on what Operation Legend is and what is isn’t.”
