Douglas was arrested early Sunday morning on Pittsburgh's South Side after a witness told police that a car had struck a pedestrian and left the scene, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. When police later found Douglas, he stumbled from his car and officers had to help him stand, according to the report.

Douglas reportedly told police, "Hey, I play for Pitt football ... Please don't arrest me."

The injured pedestrian, identified as Christopher Paul, was taken to a hospital and treated for head injuries, the Tribune-Review reported.

The school announced that Douglas has been suspended from all team activities. The redshirt freshman is a backup tailback and a kick returner who has appeared in both of the Panthers' games this season. He fumbled a kickoff return in the first half of Pitt's overtime loss to Utah in Week 1.

Sounds like he's the type of player we want on the field against us when we play Pitt. Too bad.

How anyone can be so irresponsible to get behind the wheel while drunk boggles my mind.

as much as it is boggling, i would say 50 percent, and probably alot higher than that, of people who drink also drive afterwards.

definitely not right but just a fact. i know a couple people who have been in accidents from drinking, luckly it didn't involve other people but still very dangerous

you answer your own statement there man

I enjoy drinking from time to time. I enjoy getting completely wasted from time to time (though I definitely don't enjoy it the next day). In the past, I have gotten so drunk that I couldn't see, let alone stand. (I try to avoid that one nowadays) But I have never gotten so drunk that I ever thought it would be a good idea to get behind the wheel.

this sad. he just a kid but should know better than to do this. I just hope the person he hit comes out of this ok. some people these days think they can get away with anything because they play sports or they are celeberity( probably mispelled).

btw, I don't mean the above post to sound holier than thou or anything, I simply mean to say that I can't comprehend how someone could make the decision to drink and drive. Hell, even the Jersey Shore people know to call a cab!

Bravo... I and millions of people everywhere do not have as good of judgement when "drunk"... I'll just leave it at that.

Definitely best not to drink and drive. Factoring in the cost + hassle of being in jail, losing your license, putting others at risk... just not worth it.

The worst I've been was the 10 Bombay Blue Sapphire martinis I had at a Christmas party; but it was in a hotel where I had a room. The most damage that night was passing out in the room and forgetting to remove my contacts. It took me 15 minutes the next morning to peel them from my eyes.

Now, if I squint hard enough, I can shoot blood at folks. Fun times!

Unfortunately for this young man there is only about 6 cabs in Pittsburgh. We went to the Pitt-ND game last year and just figured we could get a cab back(we had been drinking and got a ride from the hotel to the 36 Grille(Bettis)), well, we call the 4 taxi companies and they all said they didn't have any available cabs. We waited for 3 hours til we finally got a cab!

Oh I've been there; cab service (and lack of public transit) in most areas suck.

One hint tho... on the way out, get the cabbie's business card and tell him you'll need a ride back at whatever time and ask if you can call him directly. If the outbound gratuity is good, they're normally sufficiently motivated to be available for the return trip.
