Agree. I could maybe see them being ranked ahead of us if they had a QB that could actually throw a forward pass.

USC seems a bit overrated too. Juju will be better than Agholor but it's still a loss to the offense. The entire defense went through Williams. I can't imagine they'll be better without him.

Let's hope not. They already scare the heck out of me

Teams will take tumbles. We'll have plenty of time and opportunities to prove the pollsters wrong.

More than a little concerned but would like to post this for anyone who cares-I have a buddy that had a son who played on the last Tech team to beat Notre Dame. His comment-'we were surprised how soft they were'. I don't think that will happen this year but letting the boys know that may not be a bad thing.

Freudian slip, or completely understandable consequence?

I'd rather just bash every experts preseason rankings for the next 2 and half months because that is the fun thing to do at times like these ala no actual football but your point is well made and duly noted.

Their O-Line comes back and the QB is back. The rest of the offense graduated. They lost a lot of yardage to graduation.

But - the QB is back, and he makes that O go. One of the games I am worried about.

to me this is the #1 game I worry about.... We struggle against this type of offense and no one does it better than G Tech....

That QB is a super beast... I saw him a few times last year and thought every time that I hadn't seen a QB flourish in that type of offense since ND was running it.

Agree. I didn't pay attention until the ACC Champ Game and the Orange Bowl but DAMN he is good.

Are you saying that that is what you think the W-L total will be for ND? If so. I don't have a lot of vbucks. But I'm willing to make a wager on that.

Seriously?? Of course that's not my prediction, I'm just being silly... I have tons of faith in the Irish... Great thing are coming....

I agree that Stanford and LSU are overrated. USC seems way overrated, but that's every pre-season poll. Never mind that they went 9-4 last season and lost key players, they are going to take it all this year! And people say Notre Dame's pre-season ranking is always inflated.

I already
expected Zaire to win the starting job so Golson's departure
had no impact on my forecast for the Irish

I do this thread every year as I'm a big Phil Steele fan. He's doing his Top-40 countdown now to hype up his magazine release in July. I'll keep this updated and just bump whenever one of our opponents is in the ranking.

I usually agree with big Phil but I would have FSU higher with Golson pulling the trigger, he has always had an affinity for southern cal so we part ways there. I think the Irish are better than them this year. We're about right at 10-12 until the bell rings. My prediction is either very very good or very very bad because of chemistry. If they smash Texas watch out brother-you'll here a train coming.
