Michigan's "luck" in the playoff field (if that happens) would be thanks to ND losing to Cincy at home. And in any case, it could easily be Cincy at 4 and Michigan at 2, if they beat UW/Minn. In which case Michigan would probably be playing either Bama or OK State/OU.

We cannot get Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl unless Michigan were to lose the Big Ten Championship, at which point anything is possible. The Rose Bowl is obligated to take the highest ranked non-CFP Big Ten team which will be Ohio State.

They aren't obligated to. Like I said previously usually it's the highest ranking team available but in the case of MSU being ahead of UM if UM had lost today they would have picked UM because MSU was there most recently.

Couldn't you say the same thing about us if we make the playoff? No OSU, no Bama, and no Clemson.
