Were we ever in the running with DeForest Buckner?

I would assume that Stanford and Marshall would be the only ones we'd go after, but I don't see us taking Marshall with Russell and Mahone already in the stable...Focus on Green and Isaac in '13...As for Buckner, I know he had interest in us but I'm not too sure it was mutual...

Oregon has a couple of good ball players but with only 2 weeks to go on this class and ND's needs/slots I don't see ND pursuing any of those verbals.

Byron Marshall, Dwayne Stanford, and Reggie Daniels received ND offers but with Russell's and Mahone's verbals and Carlisle's transfers I don't see another RB now. Stanford isn't in Greenberry's category, and ND people seem to really like Ferguson and Brown. With all the safeties on board I think Daniels window has passed as well.

Bruckner might be available but ND didn't offer him, same for the 2 TEs.


Rather than their current verbals it might help ND with people not committed to Oregon that are still in play like Shaq Thompson. Committed to Cal but unhappy over Lupoi leaving CAL for UW, a Kelly departure may scratch ORE from his list of alternates and help ND.

Byron would have came here (or at least there was a very good chance he would), but he couldn't qualify. It was one of those damn foreign language classes.

DeForest was interested but an offer never came.
