1) He played for the University of Missouri and Memphis. He played for St. Louis Rams, Minnesota Vikings, Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys.

2) He was the 2020 All-American Bowl Coach of the Year.

3) He's young. I'm sure he would kill it on recruiting trail. If you coach in the STL area, you better be able to do that. Kids get snatched up left and right around here. The STL/ metro east area is full of talent.

4) ISD says hes a GREAT leader (whatever the hell that entails)

Thank you.

I have absolutely no problem hiring a hungry, talented high school head coach to be a position coach.

If we were hiring him as HC, OC, or DC... problem.

I am just saying that if any other school did this they would be yelling that they only hired in for a recruit. I am not saying he can't be a good coach at all but What proof does a high school coach have to back him up that takes him from a high school head coach to a division 1 CB coach? He has no college coaching experience.

I don't think you're hiring him for one recruit but for his expected recruiting acumen in general. Young guy, clearly connects with the younger generation, NFL background, exceptional cultural fit to recruit to ND. I think Jamie U at ISD said it well. This would be a huge swing by BK. No denying that. And with Joseph to help groom him as a DB's coach with Lea as DC, you gotta like that support system.

With that said, if you hire him and he doesn't sign some top notch players, it's going to be hard to justify.

I can't remember if this is/was a rule, but thought if you hired a HS coach there was some sort of timeframe where you couldn't recruit that school.

I was thinking the same, 2 years is what I seem to remember. Haven't seen any confirmation or clarification of this yet.

I think that was if you hire them for anything other than a positional coach.

Yep, sounds like it it’s a off-field role it’s two years probation from recruiting said school. If it’s a position coach, no such issue.
