The name of the game is execution, so this scenario would be rather catastrophic. If Neal or Brown were just plain better and more knowledgeable than their teammates, they'd certainly be in there.

That said, in theory this could be the lineup in 2013:

QB: Golson So
RB: Wood 5th / Atkinson JR / Carlisle SO
WR: Daniels So / Jones SR
WR: Brown SO
WR: Neal SO
TE: Eifert 5th / Niklas JR

Holy Touchdowns, Batman.

Scary good lineup.

Question I have is if BK entertains any other QB's for the starting spot. A year and a half from now is a long time.

Now back to Miami... they suck.

Miami, really. I remember earlier in the year everyone counted them out to not be any good, now all of a sudden they beat a bunch of bottom tier ACC schools and that Bethlaham school that isn't even an FBS school and now their a team to be worried about by some. And again as I've referenced to MSU, they haven't faced a defense like ours, and for those nay sayers about our secondary being untested, I beg to differ. We're allowing only 9 pts a game, and yes that has to do with the secondary as much as the front 7. Yeah the front 7 is dominant, but quick slants and or out patterns would be quick and easy plays for teams to eliminate the pressure our front is brining. Those quick slants and outs are not there because of our coverage. I think we pull off another big turnover game this weekend as their QB is all giddy from throwing so much last week, he's going to have the confidence to think he can throw on us, when we will be in prime position to have a few more picks this week. GO IRISH!

I know you have 'In theory' but I think we need to almost take Eifert out of the picutre for a 5th year, seems like even having a subpar year in regards to stats, he's going to be highly sought after in the NFL, and may not have the itch to come back like Teo did. Just my opinion, still looks like a daunting lineup for next year.

Rees can get us into the correct run plays but Golson is getting it. Right now Golson is allowed to go run to run or pass to pass...

Q: Flip Flop Bennett Jackson and KeiVarae Russell?
A: Yes. Depends on the situation.

Golson is aware there's a learning curve - he's never deflated in terms of confidence.

Whether we're playing Miami or our next opponent we as an offense have to score more points.

Getting Golson to the media is a result of his schedule on and off the field - very busy.

There needs to be a balance between focusing on the task at hand and understanding the weight of what they are accomplishing.

We don't listen to the noise about where we are ranked. We need to focus on the details. But they need to understand the success too.

This bye week was a whole lot better than the bye week after Tulsa...(ya don't say??!!)

Q: Development of kickers?
A: Consistency. Priorities - getting healthy, accuracy, consistency.

Q: Any new names cropping up?
A: Sheldon Day

You're going to continue to see Sheldon Day more and more.

Baratti and Day will continue to see snaps on defense.

Davaris Daniels off ankle injury: We didn't take a step back with him but we didn't make the leap forward.

Manti Te'o for Heisman: If you're looking for the best college football player who impacts your program.....

Daniels needs reps to move forward - he has the skill set to be a deep threat along with a number of wide-outs.

Manti is a Heisman based on the description of the award.

Miami throwing it deep means we have to be able to play the run and the pass - it's not just about the DB's either - all must perform.

on young DBs - one thing we know about them, they're a disciplined group.

Bennett Jackson is competitive and plays hard - he plays with an edge.

Miami will use tempo to try to gain an advantage.

Conversations are needed with Golson after all games - not just after a performance like Michigan

Our guys have been committed to the process and they are taking that with them on Saturday's. It's painstakingly slow sometimes. Sometimes it's quicker.

If we were certain that Golson wouldn't make any more mistakes then we'd have this thing licked but that's not the reality.

We're still a group that has to show more consistency.

On commitment to the process: It has to translate to Saturday. Nice job preparing and doing what we've asked them. Not ready to say we've arrived. You can't win unless you eradicate all of those things that threaten it. That's the process.

A consistent message on a day to day basis and senior leadership has been the key to players buying into the process.

Funny how much more patient he gets w/ a QB that has a high ceiling...

1st impression of K. Russell: engaging. He carried on a conversation with me that was extremely mature.

Russell wanted the chance to compete right away.

We had no other alternatives at corner, but Russell earned it.

There are so many factors that go into winning besides scoring more points than the other team.

Except for he's been benched the last two games. Wasn't Dane supposed to not even have a ceiling and he got benched even quicker. I don't get this statement.

on Duke Johnson (Miami RB): I'll tell you we know where he is. He's an exciting special teams player.

Q: Discussing multi-dimensional players on Miami's roster.
A: We are aware of where they are and we prepare for them.

Q: Miami - what does it mean to the players?
A: They understand the history and tradition of this rivalry. They're focused on what this team is not just the rivalry itself.

Kelly said he's not worried about his team handling adversity:
They're got enough battle scars over the last few years.

I'm satisfied so far as to how the team has responded to adversity - there hasn't been a lot at this point though...

Q: Team being mentally grounded?
A: They hear the same things every year. We talk to them, but seniors response was we tune them out.

Players are tuning out the hype. They know to be focused on the next practice.

on 3rd year: We're not shocked that we're being more consistent. But again we haven't put five wins together in my tenure here.

I don't know if year 3 is a magical year, but things are coming together. But it needs to be more than 4 wins.

I don't have a schedule on when any of my teams should play at a championship level.....not sure about the third year theory.

Injury report --- discussed already that Austin and Chase are out.
Bye week came at a great time for those who were nicked up. Day and KLM are feeling much better and are almost 100%

Oh and to give a little taste of Canestime:

OMG this is funny. What's the story here? Guy started following a forum and people on there picked on him and made up these rumors or what? He thought they really believed all of that?

Well if that's not baiting a DC for a play-action bomb to Chris Brown, I don't know what is.

Well, gentlemen, I just reviewed our first four games [a lot of fun when you already know we won], and despite a few flaws like the O-Line not being able to get enough push on rushing plays, and the TEs not being able to effectively block, the only thing really wrong with our team is.... yep, quarterback. Everett REALLY stunk vs Michigan. We are lucky Tommy is around to conservatively manage our putrid offensive business and scrape out wins [not to forget Bobby-the-D's guys].

Everett just MUST get it together. We all know what Tommy brings, and it's just not quite enough. And we all sit there nervously hoping that 2011Tommy will not show up [which he hasn't so far, except the good part of that Tommy]. I'm hoping for Everett to "see the light" this game. If not, I think that Tommy is plenty good enough to score a lot of points against Miami, and we still win. Time's a'wastin' though. Everett must "get it" soon.

By the way: it is my unpopular opinion that our receiving corps [much maligned by most] is at the edge of flat-out terrific. We just have to get them the ball. And "them" includes TJ, Robbie, Davaris, CBrown, Johnny-be-Good, and the TEs. Mystifies me why anyone dismisses the quality of winners that TJ and Robbie are. I at least am going to miss Robbie a lot next season.
