Sark is actually a pretty classy guy. This could have been a massacre of epic proportions. Does anyone think ND would have ever stopped them if the didn't run the ball most of the second half?

I wish he did so it could be less justifiable. Now this will be glossed over as just a blowout when really it should be a program changer.

I think USC made it easier on D but I still think the right side was more locked in. BK needs to name Zaire the starter right now and get it out of the way.

Don't get me wrong, Lombard was terrible today and benching him helped.

Zaire looked good in a Crist to Goodman type way.

If we had guys and coaches who cared like Malik and Greg do, we'd be in the playoff conversation.

I disagree. Difference between not caring and flat out getting it wrong. Do I think some players packed it in after the FSU game? Yes. Do I think more gave up after the ASU game? Yes. I do believe the coaches do care, especially BK because his legacy does rely on it and I think he flat out loves football. His arrogance to change did get the best of him and I think he tried letting EG battle through it but EG never gave him the same respect. It was evident to me last week when BK had to pull him aside and yell at him for walking away.

BK absolutely deserves another year but everybody else is game. Alford I would keep though. Defensively, nobody is safe. Booker needs to go too.

To me though, Lombard has looked bad all year. People wanted to put it on Elmer but I never saw it. I always saw Lombard screwing up which in turns affects Elmer. Lombard was always a step behind and injuries did him in.

Why don't we run a base defense and adjust from there? It seems like BVG is trying to run a way too complex defense for a a young and beat up roster.

I think we struggle with some basic fundamentals as it is. We seem to struggle in tackling, and we can't seem to press a receiver to save our lives. I think if we could apply a little press coverage maybe we could give our DL some time to get to the QB and provide a better rush.

I'm looking forward to a bowl game because I do not want to end the season like this and I want to see (hopefully) Zaire in a full game. But I'm worried I may lose some IE brothers to suicide or heart attacks:banghead2

What the hell does this even mean?

Throughout the season ND's passes and carries have been pretty damn balanced compared to the rest of the country. If you care to look it up go ahead.

It means run the ball. 50 vs 50 obviously wasn't good enough. Particularly when we need to run the clock.

Run the fvcking ball...you confused?

Don't forget that McGlinchey was protecting Zaire's blindside as well. Much needed move that should have happened 3 weeks ago.

At this point, I'm so lost for the defense...

I mean, people got hurt, will get healthy. Losing KVR hurt, a lot. And Riggs late year as well...but he's gone.

Day and Jones...two studs.

Joe, wasn't the highest rated (garbage), but our starting LB. And then those other guys...Morgan.

With all that said, EG and the offense, yeah...I mean MZ and the offense...

I'm not interested in a bowl game...three weeks worth of practice.

Let's just call it a season.

Go to a bowl game and get blasted???? This O is not ready, and the defense is absolutely horrific. Call it a day? Like we did when Jimmy was here? I wouldn't mind, because the coaches have called horrific games, and the players haven't played IMO. But, they will accept a bowl because of the extra pracitces. But, a 7-6 season on the horizon?? I am not sure that is good, and how many guys will we lose because of injury in that game?

We are in bad shape in all areas. IMO Our special teams are not good, our WR's drop balls, our Oline lets gu;ys gem home quickly, our DLine is what it is--can't stop the run or rush the passer, our DB's have a hard time covering, our coaches play hurt guys before healthy at safety, our coaches have been outcoached over and over and over, the TE are a forgotten area---that leaves our RB's are our only good thing IMO. Sad, sad, sad.

But, going to a bowl game and get embarrassed isn't good. But, the practices out weigh us getting obliterated.

Go Irish, what an embarrassing season.

I'm not sure there is going to be a post game thread or not, so I'll leave this here:

- Typical slow start under Kelly. Start the game off with two straight penalties (illegal formation followed by delay of game) putting them in a hole before Kelly went with his usual pass happy attack. Just sloppy football and a lack of execution. At what point does that fall on the shoulders of the man in charge?

- Didn't even try to establish the run today (even with an injured and turnover prone QB). USC didn't stack the box at all. Kelly's over reliance on Golson and his over inflated belief in himself as a playcaller have hindered the offense as a whole. Nice to see Bryant finally get out of his dog house today and actually utilized in the second half. Just ridiculous.

- Golson in all likelihood is done as a starter here. Just turns the ball over way too much for a guy in year 3 in the same offense. Kelly has not been able to get him to the level needed. Oh, and for all you excusing Kelly last year for the struggles on offense saying "well, if we would have had Golson we win x amount more games".....not only were you wrong, but you were way ****ing wrong!

- Same old story for the defense. Too many injuries and inexperience to overcome a sometimes explosive USC offense. The continual turnovers on offense compound matters.

- I'll echo what I said a couple weeks ago. I'm not a believer in Brian Kelly and think he is incredibly over rated, but do not think he should be fired even after this historic collapse. He get's next season to prove he is the elite guy most on here think he is. All the stars are aligned next season on every level and there are no more excuses. Get the job done or get the f**k out!!!
