Stanford lost to Az St last night 28-10. Had to look twice on the SU sidelines to see if it wasn't Mike Leach there. They ran 13 times for 20 yds and passed 45 times for 356. Crazy stat: 10 of the eleven Cardinal drives passed midfield. Scored 10 points!

McKie is their QB and he's OK, not really good but pretty accurate on the medium range stuff. They're good at TE up the seam (Yurosek) and jump ball to their physical WR's (Higgins is the best). Defense is atypical Pac 12 outfit. Not a lot of press coverage or blitzing except in the red zone. Thoma Booker is a load to handle but they have him at DT.

Only a badly damaged ND team will go out there and lose.

Nice write up, but honestly the "pretty accurate on the medium range stuff" worries me, especially if they've got a good TE and a playmaker at WR. That's the kind of stuff we've been getting burned on this year.

Watching them for the first time this season as they are at home taking on Utah…….Stanford offense and defense both look atrocious. They can’t stop the run nor can they run the ball themselves.
I knew they had regressed but down 21-0 with 12 minutes left in the half, very ugly looking team. Hard to believe they beat Oregon (who shouldn’t be #4 in the CFP rankings anyway).

Also surprised to see such a strong crowd at the game………could be a couple of thousand people!

Must be a huge drop off from their starting QB to backup. Their offense is worse than anemic.

At least Thomas Booker can leave for the NFL w/ a Stanford degree b/c his football team sucks.

When will we see an announcement for kickoff?

Pretty sure ESPN/ABC always has a 6 days or so to announce the kick; UVA was announced just after the Navy game. I suspect we'll hear an official time this Saturday.

Sure would be nice to get an afternoon start. Seems like every Stanford game is prime time since they’re on the west coast.

with stanford down this year im guessing it'll be an afternoon game like it was in 2019. just hope the field is in better condition then it was back in 2019.

Oregon State had 5 offensive TD's and 35 pts against Stanford. While Utah had 6 offensive TD's and 52 pts on Stanford. This all within the last two weeks. Not a good defense.

I mentioned this back when we played USC. Utah had 42 and Oregon State 45 versus USC. Each team had 6 offensive TD's. For comparison ND had 4 offensive TD's and 31 pts. vs USC.

We have to do a better job of getting in the end zone and putting points on the board against bad defenses. That time is now. Burn the Tree, lol.

Does ESPN have the game?

It actually says TBD everywhere I look so I guess that's still up in the air, too. I know there have been years where it's been on ABC/ESPN so I just assumed, but do recall the 2019 game being on Fox now that R2G pointed out above.

Not necessarily. This game has been played at night almost every time since I've been watching, even when one of the teams is mediocre or terrible. I think 2007 and 2019 were the only times this game was in the afternoon since I've been watching.

2001 and 2009, we were bad, and they were still night games.
2003 and 2005, Stanford was bad, and they were still night games.

I'm gonna say our game will be a night game this time around, the way the schedule looks to be shaping up. A lot of the noon slots are taken up already, and there's a good chunk of east coast games on that Saturday too, which lends me to believe they're gonna want to push back the ND game so they can reap the west coast audience and the large national fanbase that ND has.

Good point. If most of the good games are early, it makes sense to schedule it for night.

This is a game we should win by 35. So it’ll probably be 31-17

Would a Notre Dame victory end Shaw's reign at Stanford?

Even if they beat Cal and lose to ND, they will have three consecutive 4 win seasons. Quite the fall from how their program under Shaw from 2011 to 2018.

Are they happy sticking with Shaw? I know it's challenging for Stanford to recruit, probably more than it is for ND due to their admission requirements, but it's not really a valid excuse to use because Stanford had been a dominant program for nearly a decade. And they have had good recruiting classes, usually ranked in the Top 25.

Are they sticking with Shaw because it's simply a hard job to find a replacement? Could be.
