Not sure the issue was whether or not he'd be great. I think it was more to do with not wanting him to learn on the job here at ND, esp with BK's window to win the big one shrinking. I agree he's done well, but I also believe he's made some serious "green" mistakes. Things are lining up for ND to make a run next season or the one after. Would hate for that to be handicapped by a young OC who just hasn't seen quite enough live ammunition...
