D-Line should eat up BC's O-line IMO. Kiser is going to be key next week. He HAS to be.... and hopefully Bertrand is back at 100%

They have two good receivers and without the Phive Star Philure their passing game looks more efficient. Their OL is terrible but Stanford had a worse OL and ND botched that game.

Moorhead can sling it a little.

Also beating NCSU was an upset on paper only. They suck without Leary.

That said, next week is the BC Super Bowl. Can’t wait.

Rees botched that game, not the D-Line

NC State rushed for 200 yards on BC, BC rushed for -1 yard with 330 pass yards going 29/48 on passes.

Yeah, I’m tired of hearing how the next opponent has one of the worst <fill in the blank> defenses in the nation b/c Marshall, Stanford & Navy have made those stats meaningless.

I would like to see someone else return kicks. Tyree just doesn’t have that lateral twitchyness

Stanford's OL is not worse than BC.

BC's OL is atrocious and giving up more sacks than all but 5 teams in the country and are ranked 128th in rushing offense.

They have some legit WR's, but can't run the ball to save their lives or protect the QB.

Sorry if already posted... but should we completely write off Phil as a transfer candidate?

I know I know... but seriously.

CMF could absolutely sell him on it and his bitch about ND had nothing to do with staff still here.

From what I see, he's pretty dang serviceable if he had a decent O Line and we should have an absolutely cracking OLine next year with a bunch more weapons.

Why not give it a shot? I know we hate him, but the kid is not a bad QB.
I wouldn’t get too excited about the ND o line next year just yet. It’s loosing two interior players who are playing at a really high level and none of their replacements have shown much of anything at this point.

This^

I can see the offseason narrative now…”we are a QB away from competing for the NC“. No, ND is losing Patterson & Lugg w/ no clear vision of what next year’s OL looks like. Hiestand doesn’t seem to be a fan of Kristofic & Spindler needs to really step up.

you’ll laugh, but there’s a good chance Brandon Joseph & Cam Hart (yes, Cam Hart) declare for the NFL.

Who’s gonna be the Vyper on defense next season? ND loses Foskey, Ademilola Bros (maybe they can talk Justin into returning but doubt it).

This program is in Year 1 of the MF era. Hope for a successful Portal off-season & continue building towards CFP. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Then again Rome didn’t have message boards whining about the lack of instant success.

Lol, ok half this board has been calling Lugg trash for 4.5 years. Now he's an irreplaceable piece? If he can take that step why wouldn't 1 of Kristofic, Spindler, Schrauth, Coogan, etc....

The key to good returns isn’t twichyness IMO. It’s going north from the get go. One thing TB, Rocket and Zibby had in common was getting north first then making cuts after getting past the first wave.

Tyree is not the guy we expected after he won "fastest man" at those recruiting camps. Unfortunately, he really has been disappointing. Some of that is on the coaches and what they are asking of him. I think he could use a change of scenery next year

Lugg has been really good…for the better part of this year. That’s kind of the point. Experience on o line for the entire unit (number of starts specifically if I’m recalling correctly) is a major predictor of how good the line will be. No one has been able to beat Lugg out so that says something.

Lugg has played way better under Hiestand, who we assume will be back again next year. That’s says the most. Not worried about replacing Lugg. Patterson to whomever will clearly be a downgrade but Alt and Fisher will be another year older. Correll now has real experience at C not spot appearances and playing guard.

Alt - Upgrade
Patterson to ??? - Downgrade
Correll - Upgrade
Lugg to Kristofic - End up being a wash IMO
Fisher - Upgrade

As a former Al Bundy-like legendary high school return man,… it depends on the return. Most kick returns for sure. Punt returns are a bit different. Many times you don’t have the opportunity to go north south until you’ve made the first couple defenders miss. However,… If it’s a booming kick and you have time, yes get moving forward.

Lugg also dropped weight last year in an effort to stay healthy. This year he added back 11 pounds. I think that’s also been a factor.

Not to be a dick but how would the replacements get a chance to show anything if the guys in front of them are playing at a really high level?

Well, Marshall and Navy both have top 10 rushing defenses.

With the way this wild season has unfolded, I’m expecting to lose to BC but beat USC.
