Navy worries me just because we have a new DC. DC's historically either "get it" playing against the option and we kill Navy, or they don't and we sweat out an uncomfortable game.

I would agree if our offense was less high powered. I can't see a world where Navy gets more stops than we do. But I suppose that is the spooky thing about Navy. Navy does still run the modern triple option so...

Do they? I zipped through the AFA game and it looked like they're a regular -- if run heavy -- spread offense.

Seen that movie too. I get Pitt looks good but I’m never shrugging off a winning navy team ever again
Navy was unbeaten last year going up against ND and it wasn't even close. All things being equal, ND is going to win their next two and go into Pitt on a run. I specifically came to the Pitt thread to point out this is likely the toughest game left. Navy or someone else may prove otherwise, but that's not where I'm betting my money right now. I like ND to win their next two. This Pitt game is starting to bother me a bit.

Pitt, since this new QB took over, is on a four game win streak after dropping two in a row. They go Stanford, bye, then ND at home a week after playing Navy.

No disrespect to Navy, but I expect ND to beat them and BC prior to that. This Pitt game is one we've got to keep our eyes on.

Everyone references Ash’s 2014 season with OSU…Well, they did open with Navy that year and won 34-17 against a solid Navy team who put 39 up against us.

I was at that game. OSU looked like hot garbage for most of the game.

"All things being equal" meaning no bad games? In that world, ND is 10-2 already.

No injuries, suspensions, current trajectory staying what it is.

There's really no reason to make every shitting thing more complicated than it is.

I believe they will beat BC and Navy with little to no consequence. I think there are areas and situations where Pitt could and will cause them some problems.

I get it. To some people, even basic arithmetic can seem complicated, and to the paranoid, all communication should be met with hostility.

Pitt is good enough that if we mess around they could really push us. BC, Navy, Syracuse, and Stanford, we should blow the doors off of them and if we don't, well that will be mildly disappointing. Honestly, by the end of the game, we should comfortably beat Pitt, too.

I am not worried. We have a great staff that has figured that team out. Our linebackers are monsters against them. We are good.

I feel like coordinators all should "get it", at least if they are middle aged men who grew up the 80's or 90's. The triple option has been around a long time. Its not super complicated as far as I know. Its like reading latin. If you went to a seminary it really shouldn't cause many problems as a playcaller.

The ones I worry about are the players "getting it" but I guess to your point that is the staff's responsibility to get guys ready

Probably right.

Pitt has been a pain in the ass in the past. They'll undoubtedly be up for this game, too. They're playing pretty well at the moment. If the game is in South Bend, I'm a lot more confident.

We'll see how the next couple of weeks go.
