Best overall athletic performance by the men. Great seasons in soccer, lacrosse, fencing, etc. got it done. Very impressive accomplishment.

How does the scoring work? I saw ND had 98.5 pts, and 5tg place FSU had 68 pts. Virginia wasn't in the top 5, but they said during the game they would win the cup if they won the game. How was that possible?

I wondered that as well. By those same calculations, vandy should soar up the chart.

I think "could win" were actually the words used. So if Virginia won, they only maybe would've overtaken ND. Crazy math indeed.

You get points for top 10 finishes in sports. 60 points for a championship in a major sport (football, soccer, baseball, lacrosse, basketball, etc.) and 20 for minor sports (water polo, fencing, etc.)

After that it's 60% of the points for second and then scales down from there. So ND got a championship in soccer and second in lacrosse for 96 points... and I guess that's all we really needed? The men's field was pretty weak this year with no one winning multiple ships relative to the women's side.
