if we go 10-2 we are in whether you agree we should be or not because that means we beat a top 15 Pitt team and we will jump atleast 4 or 5 spots in the rankings

I'm with Phork. It'll be a close call should we win out (and that's not even close to a guarantee that we'll even do that), but I don't think we'll have a right to bitxh about it. If SC wins out, they'll deserve it over us, because they beat us on the field, at ND. I won't be disgusted if we win out and don't make it to the BCS, b/c we lost 2 games. Now, if certain teams lose and we have better records than them and still don't make it, then I'll bitch. But right now, should we win out and don't make it, I'm fine with it (but you bet your ass that some very influencial people will be trying to get us in one)...

USC is finishing with a wimper at this point. I don't think there's a team out there that can beat us by 27. If we are in the top 14 what other 2 loss teams get in ahead of us. If we wi out that will be 6 wins in a row which should be a bettr run than most of the other contenders. Also when the season is over with Floyd in the lineup we are a bettr team than USC.

If there was a BCS "selection committee" I think we wouldn't have that great of a chance, but with the system how it is, I still think we would be the first at-large chosen...does anyone know which bcs game would have the first choice?

And Phil Steele has updated his bowl projections, and he has us going to the Fiesta Bowl against Penn State. And he has USC going to the Holiday bowl lol

I completely disagree. See, in the end, we are NOT better than USC. Why? Because they beat us, on our home field. If we were better, we would have won. We wouldn't have fallen behind by 20 before rallying and falling short. Better teams win. We can play the Floyd card, but they can play the Stafon card, the Rojo card (first game back, wasn't himself), the Wright card, etc. Injuries happen. You deal with them and you step up. We didn't quite get it done.

Now I'd like to think we are better than SC (I agree that Floyd is a HUGE loss), but if an SC fan argued with me that with 2 losses, they deserve a BCS bid over us with 2 losses, how we can we argue? THEY BEAT US. I'm assuming you played sports. As an athlete, it all comes back to the scoreboard. Anybody that talks shit to me during/after losing, I simply point to the scoreboard. Excuses are for losers.

I guess we see this differently, but if I'm being honest, I couldn't argue the BCS thing with a USC fan, because they got over on us head-to-head. And yes, that pisses me F***ING OFF lol...

If Boise State had played our schedule with the same results we have would they be in the BCS discussion like the Irish are now?

No they would not. Fan base and television ratings should not be factors in the BCS selections.

I hope we don't get chosen, even if we win out, so we can get a nice bowl win and keep momentum going into next season.

No, because everyone still considers BSU a mid-major. Everyone bitches about who they schedule but who in their right mind would schedule them, at home or away? If BSU had played our schedule they would be 8-0 right now, and as an independent they would be a top5 team.

Its interesting to note that really at this point if any year needed a +1 game, it would be this year. And I find the irony so tasty as to who protested about the +1 game, it was the Big10. And now Iowa is begging and pleading to not be left out.

ND blew their credibility with the loss at UM. While they recovered some of that up to USC, they still got beat by USC. Same old ND say the pollsters.

Mick: the only way ND qualifies for the BCS is a top8 finish. Top14 guarantees them eligibility, nothing more.

NDinLA: our agreeing is happening more and more every day. Frightening, isn't it.

Eligibility for ND means a guaranteed BCS game. Just the way it is with the BCS focused on money. Say if you're the Orange Bowl committee or whatever for an example. What game is going to bring in the most amount of money and generate the most amount of interest? Georgia Tech vs. Notre Dame or Georgia Tech vs. Boise/TCU/Penn State?

Guys read the article on ESPN about Notre Dame's BCS chances. I don't have the link but they make it sound like we have a GREAT chance of getting to the BCS if we finish 10-2.

I am using the same logic that F'd us out of our NC with the same argument with Fl St. While I would rather have won the SC game and not go to a BCS game a great consolation would be to go to a BCS game with the same record as USC while they go to the Holiday Bowl. I can hear them whining now. I'd just let them know when they can build the respect and fan base that ND can than maybe they can make it into the BCS without more than one loss. I think we are gettng better every week and USC got us a couple of weeks ago. what if we could play a rematch with USC. How do you think that would turn out?

the michigan loss, not the one to SC, just killed us...we really should have won that game (and some replays back that up - but it shouldn't have come to some of those calls, we should have beaten them anyway)...now the big game is gonna be pitt and winning that will be a must for the success of this season

You really believe that BSU would be 8-0 if they had our schedule? I'm assuming that was a sarcastic remark

Hope so too. They wouldn't be able to handle the Michigan/MSU/Purdue/Washington stretch. USC would be a guaranteed lose and BC would be a close game. They'd be 6-2 at the best. They did beat Louisiana Tech by 10, Tulsa by 7, and UC Davis by 18 though, so maybe they could hang with USC.

I thought a win is a win. Didn't they also dominate Pac 10 leader Oregon? In my opinion if they go undefeated they deserve to go to the BCS.

They dismantled Oregon. And yes, they would be 8-0 with NDs schedule.

With the way Oregon was playing at the beginning of the year, ND would be 8-0 with Boise's schedule....oh wait I mean 9-0. Boise added an extra game and played UC Davis.

I think your spot on unfortunatly, it's one of the main reasons we're hated Nationaly, we get more than our fair share of recognition due to NBC etc.

I agree with this. Boise State is good. Petersen is a great coach. That's why they stomped Oregon. That's why they beat them a few years ago too. That's why they beat Oklahoma. They are good. Every player on that team does their assignments. They are good year in and year out for a decade. Why does everyone still doubt them? They do it consistently.

Because they are going to absolutely killed this season in a BCS Bowl.
