Big hits were the order of the day during Saturday’s open practice. Check out highlights from Notre Dame’s intense three-on-three drill, see all four quarterbacks in action and watch a couple under-the-radar players step up in Bennett Jackson and Steve Filer. Notre Dame showed strengths on both sides of the ball as it worked out in full pads for the first time.

Seeing that makes me excited for Nix. He was clogging the hole.

Filer was OWNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Filer absolutely dominated last spring as well and had like 10 tackles in the spring game. I, for one, was miffed that Neal got the nod over him at OLB. This is his last year to do something and it really looks like he might get beat out by Shembo.

I bet Urban realizes why he loved ND, and is kickin himself for walking away from her. I wouldn't mind having him as an ambassador for recruits.

Very improbable... much more probable that he ends up at OSU in 1-2 years. The thought of having a 2x national champion as an assistant coach is mind blowing and I doubt Urban would ever put himself in a position where he wouldn't have full control over a program. I've seen stranger things, but I'm not holding my breath that one of the greatest coaches of this era would sign up to be an assistant coach.

I know it sounds a little far fetched...however the stress is less, he loves the place, and he still loves to coach. Guess time will tell...

How bout recruiting coordinator ala Vinny Cerrato. Especially, if Chuck Martin continues to be a head coaching candidate. Just a thought!!

Back around 1990 the NCAA eliminated the position of full time Recruiting Coordinator like Cerrato was. Only assistants that coach a position can recruit. So Meyer would have to be an assistant position coach like WRs. Healthwise it's still a ton of stress but at fraction of the compensation. I don't see it as likely.

Last week or so a writer speculated that Meyer would end up at OSU if/when Tressel is let go. He made some good points concenring the fit there but noted it was all speculation on his part at this time.

I guess it depends on why you think he walked away from Florida. I'd like to think that Meyer saw what he had to do to keep the Gators on top, and saw how it was affecting his soul and his reputation, and decided to just get out. If that's an accurate guess, then I think he would probably consider an Assistant job at a top program. That way, he doesn't have to be responsible for doing all of the "dirty" things to win, but he still gets to coach.

Urban won't do anything other than ESPN until all his kids are grown/ not doing anything like his daughter now playing D1 volleyball...IMHO

After the kids are grown and his "family time" is more calm, the possibilities are endless.

My guess at to the reason Toma is out there is because the line in his sequence were all TE's if i saw it correctly and the defenders were LB's so it would be as if he caught a quick pass out of the slot. He is constantly going to be in traffic. So it is good practice for him. Of course it won't be that compact but he will be going over the middle against LB's and TE's blocking. Just a guess
