Also Faison needs to be in over Greathouse. I reckon Faison makes that catch.
That’s a great point. I forgot about #6 today. Hope he’s ready for Purdue.
Do yo think our best personnel is 11 with Love, Collins, Faison, Evans and Mitchell/Thomas?

Why the hell did we stop using designed QB runs after the first drive? Why take away Leonard's greatest (only?) strength?
The Wimbush ‘18 plan, when afterwards Ian Book took over. CJ Carr will take over before midseason. Leonard won’t/can’t throw downfield.

This is Freeman's Wimbush or Book moment.

Granted, it's easier to bench Wimbush when he isn't being paid $1-2 million. But, this is the reality of the portal/NIL era. Sometimes the $ guy isn't going to pan out. And, when that happens you can't let it sink the season if there are reasonable alternatives to turn to.

Time to teach these kids about contracts for NIL and put some clauses in there for them to get their money. If you don't pan out you don't get paid!

I agree, but it would never work... Teams like Aub will say "ND wants to put in a production clause... We won't do that to you"

And boom... We never get a decent transfer again.

He has enough to scramble now and again but I don't think you'd see many designed runs like you saw with Book.
I don’t think you’d need to lean into that considering he seems to be able to hit the deep ball and stretch the field.

1. The trouble for Riley Leonard is that I think the Oline did pretty well in that game.
2. It does not hurt as much as the Marshall loss as at least I was half expecting this.
3. It also doesn't hurt like the OSU loss last season. That was devastating.
This loss, might be the worst in the history of ND football.
We are done and If we make the playoffs, we'll lose the very first game.

Riley Leonard is not the problem. Marcus Freeman is. He's too young and inexperienced to coach a team like ours.
I call for MF to be fired. Let Golden take over.

Should have went to Angeli. Leonard has happy feet and is way too inaccurate. Denbrock continuing to throw was a head scratcher.
In Denbrock’s defense, there is probably a large number of high school QB’s that could have thrown a better deep ball on that last int.

Anyone have an idea what happened after the Burham injury? The clock started along with the playclock, 20 seconds went off, they stopped play, reset the clock & playclock and ticked 40 more seconds off.

Refs were horrible for both sides.

Semi serious hypothetical but if we go 11-1 do we make the playoff?
In my opinion, the odds would much more be in our favor if we bench Leonard and start Steve the rest of the way.

That way the argument would be in our favor that Leonard was the reason for the embarrassing loss and Steve replaced him and played much better.

Obviously, a lot of football left until December…but to miss out on a 12 team playoff with our schedule after getting over the A&M hump would be criminal

Leonard is not good. But if this loss wipes the pompous crucifix off his cheek, it will be worth it.

The NIU getting a push from their OL was astonishing. Hats off to them. ND front seven was mediocre at best as NIU continued to fall forward for extra yardage run after run after run.

The WR corp may be better than last year's FCS-level group, but Hartman is so, so much better than Leonard. The OL gave him time to throw. He's just an athlete playing QB.

Also, you're never as good as you look, or as bad as you look.
