Eh, world cup is a glorified all-star tournament. Like the Olympics, its cool, but its all flash and no iron. All shine and no grind.

Plus, all soccer is is a vastly inferior variation of hockey with no ice and no sticks.

o, and on that note....

Wooooahhhh wouldn't go that far with soccer. The reason it is glorified is because it happens only every 4 years. Tell me how big the Stanley Cup playoffs or the Superbowl would be if they only had it every four years. How can it be an all-star tournament? The best people from the best nations come out and compete, it's not like its the best of the eastern hemisphere play the best of the western hemisphere. Hockey and Soccer are apples and oranges to compare, each is extremely difficult in its own sense. You are true, however, when you say soccer has no ice and no sticks... it also only has shin guards.

Your closing statement seems to be 100% accurate and I have nothing to say other than the Blackhawks are the best in the league hahahah.

haha, I was kidding. Trust me, having lived far abroad, I'm well aware of how much bigger soccer ("football") is than hockey in this world.

Still, same basic goal to the sport, only soccer is about 100 times slower. And less physical.

I really wish the Finals could have gone to a 7th game only for the fact that now we enter in to my least favorite time of year - the time between when hockey ends and college footbal begins.

Ugh, guess I have to find something else to occupy my free time. Heaven forbid I actually do something enriching like read, workout, or otherwise try to improve myself.

Haha, I, as well as some others on here, are about to enter the most wonderful time of the every four years it happens. You should try it.

I will not begrugde anyone for their choice of activities or sporting events. Soccer and baseball are not for me. If you like them, I won't say a word and I hope y'all have a great time. I have played and I have also tried to watch both sports and they just don't do it for me.

I dislike soccer and baseball for very different and unrelated reasons, but if you are in to them, I hope you see some great events.

I will be spending much more time in my art studio in the coming months drawing and painting, so for that side of my life, it is a good thing. But for the former athlete and competitor in me, it might get a little blah until September 3rd.

Most all of us are probably has beens my man. I certainly fit the category well.

But I try to diversify myself the older I get. At the ripe age of 30, I'm even starting to view synchronized swimming as competitive. I can only imagine how intense horseshoes will be at 55...

Don't get me wrong, I watch a lot of different sports and I am very diverse in my tastes. I appreciate all sports, but I just can't get in to others. I play horsehoes now at age 38 so don't think that is an old guy thing either.

Soccer doesn't do it for me and neither does baseball. I also don't watch golf most of the time. I love to bowl, but I don't watch it on TV. Get my drift? I appreciate and understand a lot of different sports, but to each his own. I got in to curling this past winter for the two weeks of the Olympics, but I don't know if I would watch it a lot on TV.

I won't try to tell anyone why they shouldn't like certain sports, but I also don't need to be shown why I should like others. Just my preference, you know? Personal tastes I guess.

Trust me, there are lots of people I know that can't understand why I like hockey so much. If they aren't in to hockey, so be it. It's my thing, but it might not be yours.

Think outside the pit ... Bocce is the Bom! I hear, from my friends, that Shuffleboard is the shits. I'm reading up on the rules and poring over all the latest on the strategy of "block or blast."

The NHL released it's 2010/2011 regular season schedule today! Usually they do it around the first week in July or so. This is awesome!

KPENN - your Flyers come to LA on December 20th. ACamp - the Kings travel to Pittsburg on February 10. Mark your calendars!

Last game of the season in LA on April 9 against the Quacks of Anaheim will hopefully be a good one. I am really hoping both teams are in the playoffs together for the first time in history. It would make that last game really interesting if both teams are jockeying for position.

Of course you can dream. That is what is so great about the offseason - everyone has their hopes and dreams for the upcoming year. They don't often work out the way you want, but it doesn't stop you from being a dreamer. I dream of the Kings hoisting the Cup each and every year.

Well, I think you took a significant step towards your dream with the Thrashers aquiring Byfuglien. Might not guarantee anything, but that guy can definitely help your team.

Kind of bummed Doughty only took third in the Norris voting. Oh well. Kid is only 20. I think he could win multiple Norris trophies before all is said and done.

Don't lie to him the thrashers got bent over in that deal. Lol

And as far as I'm concerned the Norris was a joke to me. There is no way mike grenn should be ahead of doughty and pronger.

I will give it to you that the Thrashers gave up a lot, but I really think Byfuglien will bring a lot to that team. I also don't discount the value of bringing in a "minority" player to spark a little marketing for that team. Scuttlebutt has it that back at the trade deadline, one of (I repeat, only one of) the players the Kings would have had to give up for Kovi would have been Simmonds.

I agree with you about Green. However, I think Doughty had his youth working against him and Pronger is...well, Pronger. There is a lot of bias toward Pronger around the league. He is a guy everyone will respect (or fear) but he would be hard pressed to win a voting (read: popularity) contest. Just my opinion.

I don't know what people see if bufuglien to be honest with you. Sure he's big, but he's a converted defensemen that had 1 good playoff season. He only had 30 something points in the regular season. I just don't thinks he's that good, but hey that's just one mans opinion.

Great points about doughty and pronger. Doughty fans shouldn't be to disapointed I'm sure he'll have a few Norris trophies on the shelf by the time he's done.
