It just wouldn't feel like Spring without the Sharks tanking in the first round of the playoffs.

The playoffs just seem even more exciting and it isn't just because my beloved Kings are in the postseason for the first time in 8 years. Not a single team held on to home ice advantage. Really shows the parity in the league.

Can't wait to be at Staples Center tonight for the Kings to host their first playoff game since '02. I am going to blow my voice out, I am sure. My wife has never seen playoff hockey live, so it should be an experience for her. Unfortunately, I know there will be quite a few Canucks fans there too, so it should be pretty interesting. I am PUMPED!!!!

GO KINGS!!!!!!!

If there's one thing I love its watching the Sharks collapse. That being said, it's not looking like an easy road for the Hawks, they're going to have to earn their wins against Nashville. All I know is I'm going home on June 5th and I really really hope I can watch them Hawks on TV when I'm back stateside. Also, Detroit sucks.

San Jose....the Ottawa Senators of the Western Conference.

At least ottawa made it to the cup finals. Its what happens when nobody elevates there game, especially joe thorton. One of the reasons he was moved out of boston. Just think back to the olympics and how many times you heard joe thortons name. Yep not many. The bigger the game the smaller joe thorton gets. He's one of the many problems on the team

How about the habs fans booing during the us national anthem

They did it a couple years ago when the flyers played them in the playoffs. Also them and boston got in a pissing match over that

The year the Halos won it all I was at fan appreciation day and won free tix to a Kings/Ducks pre season game at the Pond... unreal atmosphere just from the fans going at each other... never seen anything like it in any sport and it was a pre season game... I don't think other areas of the country realize how intense the rivalry between the two fan bases really is and how loyal and intense so cal hockey fans really are... it's pretty hardcore I really admire it from a neutrual stance

I have season tickets to the Kings, but I live in Orange County (Duck country). Last night at Staples was incredible! It was so loud, you couldn't even hear the PA announcer calling the goals. Luongo got run in the second and the place was ballistic. This is turning out to be a pretty great series so far. Hope the Kings can hold home ice advantage and win game 4.

The rivalry between the Kings and Ducks is pretty good. Too bad the Ducks aren't in the playoffs this year because without the two teams being in the playoffs in the same year, it won't solidify the rivalry just yet. I hate the Ducks with a passion. The fans can be loud, but they are generally casual hockey fans and not the most hockey savvy. They aren't my least favorite fans in the league, but it is pretty close.

A good buddy of mine at Williams was from San Jose and he lived and breathed the Sharks. He was as passionate about pro hockey as I am about college football. Kind of creepy, but always fun to watch him melt down..it was the first sign of spring in the Berkshires.

Starving fans...finally getting a taste of playoff hockey. I was at the Toronto game6 in the Forum in 1993(gretz won in OT). Last nights crowd was louder

I wish they would have got Ilya Kovalchuk earlier this year instead of letting New Jersey snatch him up. I was told the Kings could have got him without parting with any of their core young group. dont know why they didnt pull the trigger on that.

The Kings powerplay is dominating Vancouver...are they 6 for 11 on the power play in this series? ...thats sick; vancouver doesnt stand a chance when PP is clicking like that.

.

Honestly i think the kings are better off without kovalchuk. I know that sounds crazy, but he is so damn selfish. I cant even tell you how many times in the series he's gone in 1 on 3 or 1 on 4 or something and tried to make something happen and you cant do that in the nhl. I said it from the day it happened to a friend that likes the devils that it will not work out in the long wrong for them. As far as the powerplay goes its completely predictable. 4 guys trying to get the puck to kovalchuk. I'm not just some idiot hating on a guy because he's on a rival team i felt the same way when he was in atlanta.

There were a lot of people that really wanted Kovi to come to the Kings, but I have never been that enamored with him. In addition to the comments you made above, he also doesn't play defense. The Kings would have had to give up prosects, at least, for him, plus more than likely a current roster player all for a rental. The guy is a free agent in July, so there were no guarantees that they could sign him. I think he is going to play in Russia next year for a dump truck full of money. The Kings have built through the draft, player development, and the addition of role playing veterans. They weren't going to stray from their path for Kovi. I think they are better off without him, personally.

Can't wait for tomorrow night. Staples is going to be rocking again. That place was LOUD last night. My voice is finally starting to come back just in time for me to blast it out tomorrow again!!!

The Kings have built thru the draft, and the team is coming along very nicely. but they are missing a go-to superstar scorer. They have 'guys that can get it done' but they dont have the marquee player that can challenge for 40, 50+ goals every year. They dont have the Ziggy Palffy-type player that other teams would fear. Much like the Dodgers, I dont want them to give up any other their young talent in the process, but they need to land a marquee player, or get lucky and draft one.

but I guess when your powerplay is buzzing along at 58.3 percent, I guess you dont need the marquee player.

Yeah, at this point, you are right. However, Kopitar is a mere 22 or 23 years old. He is an amazing talent that could turn in to a consistent 40 or 50 goal scorer or better very soon. He had a career best this year and he is still learning. He hasn't figured out that he has the ability to take over a game. He still looks for the pass first when I think he should just put the puck on net. The thing I like most about Kopitar is that he is a very good defensive forward. Once he figures out what he is truly capable of and gets more confidence, he could become one of the dominant players in the league.

With Doughty on D, plus the guys in the minors right now, the Kings have the foundation to be very good for quite some time.

I have paid my dues with this team (just like the Irish) - I have been a fan for 30+ years and it feels good to be doing pretty well. I hope I have the same experience this fall with ND.

Yeah, that guy has been quite an enigma during his tenure in LA. He shows flashes of brilliance one game or one shift and then disappears for long stretches. I really like Fro and when he is on his game, there aren't many that are better at controlling the puck. He really likes LA and I do hope they can keep him, but I think he is going to go in free agency. Possibly to Russia even. It's a shame because I know if he stays in the NHL, I know he will absolutely KILL the Kings every time he plays them.

Tonight should be fun again. Hopefully the fans will bring the noise like they did on Monday! I am happy to see your Pens are taking care of business. The Pens are my favorite Eastern Conference team and not just because their coach is a former King.
