They gve Timonen way too much money. 12.5 Mill tied up between him and Briere and they are both what???? In their 60's

They are buying out Briere. Timonen did get too much, but again it's a 1 year deal, not a long term investment.

I'm confused, are you saying a Flyer will go to Pittsburgh as a UFA?

No I'm saying there is a lot of hate between the 2 teams, but given the opportunity to play in Pittsburgh anyone on the team would take it. Like Iggy

Crosby is hands down the best, and he makes everyone around him better.

Yes, lets talk about the best hockey player on planet earth and his sidekicks Real Deal James Neal, Letang and GENO (last years Hart winner)

lets, hope you dont mind i refer back to last years penguins squad, seeing how they basically skate the same squad today with the addition of a few captains.. (who after last game didnt seem to help control the melt down present with this team when things dont go the right way...id look at blysma...but whatever..)

I really dont think alot of people understand around hockey how much this pens team does/gets away with... so i bring before you Example 1:

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/vbMXuha3o8k?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

1)6'1 200lbs Kris Letang takes ahold of 38 year old kimmo timonen who had ZERO fighting majors in his 14 year career, big bad kris letang (captain diver) chooses a respected veteran to drop mitts with? and then throws at him while hes on his back, jersey over head? way to break about every aspect of the code and then get up and "shhhhh" crowd after doing it, points for making himself look like a bigger a$$ clown when it appeared it couldnt be done...

2) at the 0:51 mark, Crosby knocks voraceks glove away before the restart face off, typical punk move from punk cindy, you could be wayne gretzkys and mario lemieuxs love child and i would still call you an a$$hole for doing that kind of stuff on the ice, he gets away with these things because he knows he can and he will be protected come hell or high water by the officials, or once he gets in the nice comfy cubicle with the little old time keep does he deem his enviroment safe to start chirpin...take notice to the game the other night, crosby picks his spots he knows hes not gonna get caught for, skates in rasks way then throws an elbow, nothings gonna come from tuuk, hes a goalie, ofcourse, so why not do it? and then chara.. hes twice my size, ofcourse i can start chirpin at him i got all these refs who wont let the largest man in nhl get ahold of me, and chara has nothing to gain from beating my a$$ (besides a thank you from the majority of the hockey world...)

Example 2

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/zcvzqBdCqH0?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

1) 0:08 Neals complete cheap shot of coots, no puck, left his feet, targeted the head, your boy james neal is water trash..desperate moves for a desperate hockey team..coots shut down the heart memorial trophy winner, or shrek as i like to call him.. all series and Neal targeted coots because of this. plain and simple. he took a complete Bline to coots on that play, no argument possible. last guy from pittsburgh to take a run at a teenager like that was big ben in a bathroom stall, BAZING

2:56 60 seconds later he runs at giroux, (its someones sig is the gif of this play on IE) leaves his feet again and targets the head in the SAME SHIFT.

brawl time.. 3:18 its not a coincidence every occurrence like this in which crosby is involved in a linesmen is right there from the start... (schenn would absolutely wreck 87 for the record imo) then the linesmen skates off, schenn wants to drop the according to pierre (who is an airhead..) and all a sudden 87 cant walk the walk..

7:21 then all a sudden its time for neal to come across the ice and simmonds (who is more in neals spectrum then anyone else) wants a piece and neal is a deer in the headlights all a sudden.. waiting for a linesmen..

7:34 adams is FREE SWINGING at HARTNELL and hartys still has his gloves on up against the boards, completely exposed, dont need explain whats wrong with that i hope.. ill look past the hair pull since hartsy has a whole bunch of it..

i wont even get into matt cookes file.... thats a novel on its own...

i state all this cause of what i saw after game 1 of the bruins game, when things dont go the pens way they try to play this way, not only are they bad at it, but they go about it the wrong way. and i dont expect to see the bruins series to go this way but, if it does, i wouldnt be surprised at all to see whats mentioned above again...

Because of buying out Briere? Lol

oh, lord... No, becasue of where they were for much of this season... and only avioded finishing there by one point... they sucked last year, they have no money to improve and they are going to have to buy out SOMEONE, at least,... they may not have room to secure Giroux and they stink already as it stands right now... that's my point.

can we get back to talking real hockey now??

They also lost 5/6 defenseman that were in their starting group at the beginning of the season.

They are gonna have money to secure Giroux, that's not even a discussion.

Guarantee they make the playoffs next year.

Hawks > Pens and Flyers

I'm just saying

I know i'll probably get a smart a$$ reply from a Penguin fan, but in my opinion the best product the NHL has put on the ice the past few years has been Flyer vs Penguin games and it isn't even close.

Homer opinion- always love me a bruins/habs game.

Pitt will turn it on here in the 2nd- let's see if the Bruins can withstand it.

Amazing how the first line has turned it on and how Bergies line isn't scoring too much in the playoffs- complete 180 from reg season.

That was a drubbing, also to the IE pens fans, what exactly is the logic behind booing the 2nd greatest player in your franchises history and a future hall of famer who won you 2 cups in the process..

Red Sox fans loved Johnny Damon when he played for the Yankees.

The hate comes from when the Penguins made an offer to Jagr and he chose Philly instead (I think, maybe it was Washington, either way a big rival a time). The Pens seemed to meet him in the playoffs every year whether it was on Washington or Philly. Also alot of Pens fans are younger, 15-30ish and really don't remember the early 90's, some weren't even born yet.

Just gonna throw this out there: The Pens looked pretty dominant up until ACAMP developed this bizarre affinity to cats. Coincidence????

Damon had some huge moments for the sox, especially in 04 campaign, but I would no way out him in the same conversation as jagr, jagr as far as I'm concerned is a legend..I get he snubbed Pittsburgh for Philly last year, but didn't talbot do the exact same thing? Talbot the 4th line center bolts for Philly and gets an ovation but an all time legend does it and he gets booed in his return.. Maybe the warm memories of talbot were just fresh for everyone but.. I always found it puzzling.

I didn't watch the game. Just now realized the Pens got smoked 6 to 1.

Wow I don't know what to make of that.

Bruins have had a strange recent history of blowing and coming back from big leads in series.
I'm not sure this one is as over as it appears.

Yes from what I know about the Bruins they could inexplicably lose the next 2 game on home ice, lose in game 5. Then when all hope seems lost they will come back to win game 6 in Boston and game 7 in Pittsburgh to win the series.
