So do the pack try and throw for the first or run to kill as much clock as possible?
What a joke that Dallas will lose this game on something so arbitrary and subjective. Even with the rule being what it is (i.e., terrible), they should always err on the side of it being a catch because it is so subjective.
Scoring there would not have guaranteed a win
I am not saying the officials are in the bag for Dallas. I think they have made or not made terrible calls both directions. I want the crews back not this individuals that haven't worked together ever put together for the most important games of the year.

No, but not getting the ball on the one inch line pretty much guaranteed that they wouldn't win. And no objective person could watch that play and say he didn't catch that ball (putting aside the idiotic language of the actual rule and just asking the question "did he catch it?").

If the refs got shit right last week Dallas wouldn't even have been here... Cowboy fans can quit crying now...
Peace out Dallas.
The second I saw that ball hit the ground and pop up I knew it wasn't a catch. Because I know the NFL and I know the rules. You watch the sport within the rules it provides. People who don't know the game are the ones that are upset.
Cowboys fans were saying one play doesn't decide a game last week so I don't see why they would complain this week.
That is my point, though. Forget the NFL rulebook and its idiotic approach to that play. Just in your opinion, did he "catch" the ball in the dictionary sense of the word? Of course he did. So the rule is idiotic. On top of that, he made not one but two football moves with full and obvious control of the ball before he hit the ground.
If you got rid of "idiotic rules" the rule book would almost disappear.
Unfortunately idiotic rules are all over. You have to watch the game in the context of these rules. If they were removed almost every game would be changed.
Just out of curiosity what rubs you so wrong about this play being a pats fan verse any other call like this or a call not called per the rules?

The "dictionary" sense of the word catch to me is synonymous with the rulebook. If you think the dictionary "catch" means" putting two hands around a ball then idk what to say. There are rules I wish didn't exist in every sport but if you know the game you should NEVER get upset by a referee's decision so long as the decision is not contrary to the rules because you know what the rules are.
And I just disagree that he made any sort of football move. He was just falling down. The arm never stretched out, it was just bracing his body from the fall.
