Yeah if we're doing .5 ppr, I like the ability to play a RB in the flex. It creates a wider net for draft strategies, and gives a little more wiggle-room in later rounds as well.

Screw RBs and WRs. I'm gonna draft ALLLL TEH TEZ! Gronk and Graham 1-2.

If you have a guy get hurt during the year, and want to keep him, that's cool.

Idk how I feel about being able to draft a guy like Jordy, who is already out, and placing him on IR with intent to keep him for the next season.

There's no practical way of separating the two. I just think if you want to draft Jordy (someone will, maybe me), you should have to deal with him taking up a roster spot.

What is the difference between IR and just stashing Jody Nelson in the last slot on your bench?

So it looks like I can add the IR slot whenever I want. So what if we add the IR slot halfway through the season? That way if someone does want to draft Jordy and stash him, they will have to waste a roster spot for half the season. Plus if no one drafts him, or another round one player, once the IR is added the teams doing the worst will be able to add them first using the waiver wire. So it would be a little more fair giving the advantage to the worst teams for next season?

Thoughts?

How about we make a rule (that unfortunately the commish will have to enforce) that if you draft a guy, he must play at least one week in your lineup before you can put him on IR?

By my count C is the clear preference for Issue 1. Commish I think it's safe to go ahead and make the change.

We are still discussing Issue 2.

I would prefer not to rely on the commish or anything like that with regards to the IR.

What if we keep the total roster number the same as a 3WR league but no IR. That way everyone has an extra bench spot. The burden on drafting an injured player decreases but you still are at a relative disadvantage to the rest of the league in terms of flexibility.

To be more clear, the way it's set up right now there are 16 roster spots plus the IR.

When we drop the 3rd WR that will be 15 roster spots plus IR.

I propose we do 16 roster spots, no IR as a compromise.

QB
WR

RB
RB
TE
FLEX (WR/RB/TE)
K
DEF

7 bench spots
No IR

I agree. If there's a systematic way to have an IR kick in at week seven or whenever, then I think we should go with that and let Yahoo handle it. I don't think we should put that burden on the commissioner.

There is no systematic way to have it kick in by itself per se, but it's as simple as me clicking one button. As soon as the week 6 games are over I will add an IR slot to every roster. I think this is the best compromise because it really penalizes someone if they wish to draft an injured player just to stash them. They have to waste a spot for 6 weeks. Also as I said in post #431 it helps out the teams that are in bad shape. Last place teams will have the first opportunity to add from the waiver wire.

Unless anyone objects i think this is a pretty good middle ground between IR/NO-IR

I know online can't do it this way, but in my other league we redraw every 2 rounds. So if goes up and back. Then redraw. Up amd back then redraw.

The draft order can be selected after Gattaca finalizes the teams.

Well...

We're waiting.....
