Not to be all doomy-gloomy but at this point you have to wonder if/when Stuckey and DMC start eyeing the exits.

I mean freeman isn’t making as much as BK was and Parker’s internal promotion certainly won’t be the same pay as Rees’s. This has to free up at least $3-5M in coaching salary budget right?

DMC is kind of suspected - won't be shocking, at least. That was rumored prior to this shit show and kind of known that he wanted to move up.

Interested in the presser now.

Will Jack be there and field questions?

75% of the questions will be about the search, the process, Ludwig, and the fact that MF indicated he wanted an experienced play caller. The other 25% will be about Parker and his system- like does he have one? Does he have a playbook? Does he have a philosophy? If so, what is it? Even though Parker is already on staff, it feels like as much is known about him and what he'll be able to do as OC at ND as when Ted Lasso was hired as head coach at AFC Richmond.

Well gentlemen, it's been fun. I have enjoyed the perspective and conversation of many of you. This will free up a lot of time for me, and of course, I will still be a fan, just maybe not follow it that closely. I may look up the score on a random Saturday in the fall to see if they won. Reminds me of my Cubbies. Huge fan when they won it all in 2016, but couldn't tell you all their roster now. Always blue and gold for me, just don't think I will be as invested anymore. Take care fellas. Good luck in life. I hope you are all richly blessed. And one last time, Go Irish!

Tell me how you are feeling about the hire without telling me how you are feeling about the hire.

What a fucking shit show. In 45+ years of following this team I’ve never been so disappointed in the goings on.
I’m 38 and I’ve never felt as bad about the future of the program as I do right now.

I’ve never gotten out of ND Football what I emotionally put in, but there was always the carrot at the end of the stick. That isn’t there anymore with these decisions.

This is almost always the way our coaching searches go. Lots of optimism in the beginning, usually with unrealistic expectations. Eventually we wind up with everybody's 5th-7th lukewarm option and we have to pretend it's awesome
Ok, here it is...I think Parker will be fine. He can run the same system for continuity rather than bringing in something new for them to learn, which will make his life easier. Obviously he can add his own wrinkles to keep defenses guessing. It'll be easier to keep things rolling without having to transition to a new system for our current players. There's just too much talent and experience on this team to fail right now. All the starters should be upperclassmen going into next year, unless Merriweather starts and he's got some reps so he'll be fine. We'll be returning one of the most experienced offenses in college football next year with added depth. We've got a proven QB and talent behind him. It would take an idiot to fuck this up, it's rare we have such a stocked cupboard for a new coach. It's probably a temporary solution anyway, because if this offense takes off like expected then whoever the OC is will probably get hired away elsewhere.

I am choosing to be positive and seeing what Parker can do. Lea was an internal hire as well. Things may change if Watts is hired. Not sure i can handle that.

You know you will be back.... You always come back to your first love, even if she cheats on you, spit on you and tells you lies constantly.

So - I guess the Football team saved some serious money today -- plus -- they got some $$$ back for Tommy's buyout. I think the comment the other day that ND takes their fans for granted is stinging right now.

What a hilarious turnaround from a few days ago. I hope ND fans will vote with their wallets.

One problem is as much as it should not be this is definitely will reflect on Freeman - he will be judged for this last week or so and he will know that. I’d say he bails if he gets a chance somewhere more serious about football.

True.

Lea was an Elko disciple, knew that defense, and would be able to maintain and build what Elko started though. Parker is just a dude who has been around a few places, never done anything spectacular, and is buddies with Freeman.

I'm with you on holding out hope on the OL hire. If it's Watt, then it'll truly be evident MF is in way over his head. If he brings in some stud dude like Andy Heck (I'm just throwing a name out, I know Heck isn't coming), then I'll have a little more hope- for the team and Freeman.

I’m going to reserve judgement until he calls a couple of plays. Maybe he was a voice of reason in the room this year and helped get the offense on track after some bad performances. Or maybe our talent fits his scheme better than his previous stops. Obviously MF has a tremendous amount of respect for him. I’m willing to give him a chance here.
