I really don't like making this hire based solely on how Hartman is going to feel about it. He's almost 24 years old and has every ACC record there is but isn't going to the NFL. As glad as I am to have him for one year, it's just that: one year.

This hire needs to mesh with Minchey and Carr a hell of a lot more in the long term than Hartman. Hartman is a placeholder right now, and albeit a very very good one, but the bigger picture really should be taken into account here. Hartman is a portion of that big picture, but I don't consider him the overriding portion.

If Parker was the best option, my assumption is when Rees left for Bama, they would have hired Parker spot on. Hiestand likely stays and they go find an assistant to coach QB or TE to replace Rees' vacancy on the staff with Parker at OC.

it'll be a tough intro for Parker. He'll need thick skin to deal with the fallback. Part of me wonders if he even wanted it to begin with because he obviously wasn't even the 5th choice.
