Where does ND go from here:

Moorehead - Signed an extension
Klein - Turned it down
Johnson - Gonna be named Eagles OC any day
Ludwig - Too expensive
Lewis - Bad fit
McCullough - Not enough experience?
Parker - Failed at WVU?

I like the Oregon State suggestion - who else?

For what ever reason Freeman is so secretive. You think it was bad getting Info before now it’ll be damn near impossible.

Why is Lewis a bad fit?

At some point as time goes on, the amount of OC out there that run an offense like Rees and Ludwig is going to dwindle to even less of what it currently is. Wisconsin hired Luke Fickell and he hired Longo to be his OC, which is a clear indication that the days of Badger Ground and Pound are headed into a new direction.

There may have to be a meeting in the middle that compromises on what the new OC wants to do long term and the personnel that is available to him currently. That's basic coaching. Not exactly making chicken salad from chicken shit with this roster either.
Those aren't my words, those are the words coming form those "in the know". However, is there anyone that is currently in the know?

Yesterday, I was thinking of the various possible scenarios, the best one being Ludwig and his Oline coach and the worst one being Parker and Watts. Looks like at this point, the worst scenario is coming to fruition. I guess we have to wait and hope for a better one. If it is Parker and Watts, then ND football has hit rock bottom.

They make less TV revenue than Purdue and that’s a fact. NBC discloses what they pay ND because they are a publicly traded company.
Can you provide a link? I have searched for it and can not find it anywhere. I am not necessarily the greatest web sleuth.

I don’t think there is a OL Coach you can hire that justifies Gerard Parker and Gino Guidugli

It will be an interesting press conference when they make the hire. “we couldn’t be happier that we finally got our guy” 😳
Let me introduce Jim Zillowsiki, whose previous experience at Tufts Pee Wee league football has made him the ideal candidate.

A future where ND football willingly fades into obscurity & becomes a non factor in the playoffs is a nightmare for me & I’m sure plenty of you.

I’ve been emotionally invested in this program from the age of 5.. it’s not healthy but it is what it is.. My pops put me in front of the TV every Saturday from that age & it continues that way 37 years later..

In my college years I suffered through the Davie, Willingham, Weis years with a few highlights but mostly disappointing weekends.. It was brutal. But I’m also a Yankee fan & we were absolutely dominating at the time so it helped.

ND happiness came in the form of maybe beating one of our rivals that year but in no way was there ever a consideration for a NC besides the “Bush Push”

Kelly really did bring us back.. And Freeman has a phenomenal ability to recruit.. we have the roster, the QB & the money..

All the bot has to do is take one shot for it.. For once, forget about the Weis deal & give the program the little push it needs & we’ll have the chance to be a perennial playoff contender.

But they seem content with blowing this up & sending us straight back to mediocrity & that scares the shit out of me..

No way MF stays here without more support. The recruiting will fall off the charts..

No way we get another marquee HC with this kind of behavior..

People will not pay these ridiculous ticket prices to watch 6-6 year after year.. The program will die..

And before you say “Why didn’t that happen in the early 2000s?”

The landscape was completely different.. with NIL the golden helmet has even less allure.. competitors will pay, we will get the scraps.. Coaches know this & with our BOT openly scoffing at doing what’s necessary for the program to stay relevant, who will come here to lead?

MC is a rare personality in coaching.. He’s special and the recruits/players see it.. You support that with the best talent you can find, no questions asked.

That tv deal & ticket sales revenue will disappear real quick & the reality of watching mediocre ND football for another decade will cause me to seriously re consider how I spend my Saturdays..

I have 5 kids.. 4 boys aged 9 and younger and they are all die hard already lol.. I simply cannot set them up for a lifetime of depressing Septembers - Novembers 😂

Wild indeed

My whole issue with this is that the administration has lost a fair amount of credibility when it comes to portraying they would like to win a championship.
1) You botched this process in an embarrassing fashion. That takes some level of not give a shit or incompetence to do.

2) You hid behind this veil of moral high ground when it comes to paying recruits. Not that you can't afford it, but that it is against the rules. That falls apart here. Other programs are paying recruits 2-3x what Ludwigs buyout was to kids that may never succeed. Ludwigs buyout was straightforward and above board.
You had an opportunity to snag a top 5 coordinator. One that Saban interviewed, at a minimum, before approaching your OC and one that "blew away the staff" and you drew a very public line for your fans and the entire college football world as far as what your willing to invest to win.

It reeks of the Cubs methodology. Football at ND will continue to bring in massive amounts of revenue whether championships are attainable or not. Fans actual hopes for the program mean little if they are able to dangle the carrot enough for them to keep spending money and eyeballs remain on the screen. They are spitting in our face and it pisses me off.

I think I’m done with football.
Zach Wilson busting has proven the Jets will forever be shit and the Irish refuse to play the game.
What’s the point anymore?
40 years of fandom with no payoff in sight.

You got to be kidding me. That would be a disgrace.
When they settled for Quinn as OL Coach we figured it was BK taking care of his buddy & not a money issue. That’s what makes this so disheartening. It’s just lazy, cheap & typical for Notre Dame…one step forward, two steps back.

That guy expects to make enough so he doesn't have to finance a waterbed and gets a fully loaded 2011 Taurus. Too rich for ND's blood.

Now that I'm done dooming (until or unless we make Gerad Parker OC...), how about Andy Kotelnicki of Kansas? Or Jeff Grimes of Baylor? OCs with OL backgrounds are now on the table with Harry retiring. And you can bring in Gino Guidugli and give him Pass game coordinator. And maybe even make Parker co-OC?

in fairness hiring MF was the opposite of this. He was a national guy and ND outbid other schools for him when he had his pick of many different opportunities
