My actual prediction is Nix, Gaston, Cooper, Barr, Parker, James, and Linder, but the one above would be the perfect scenario.

With EEs there can be one or two more spots.

No EE count towards last years class but we are still close to our 85 max on the roster. realisticall 7 more spots. But 8-9 more guys seem plausible with the staff making some moves.

Does anyone think Riley will actually re visit with his mother? If so then he'd pretty much be a lock......right?

There are some guys who could be in the mix for a rebirth at ND and wait too long to pull the trigger then end up as a big name on campus (little known elsewhere) in a middle of the road ACC Thursday night low ratings ESPN time filler.

No one is a lock but if Riley does return, which is expected, then ND is a real player in his recruitment

Only 2 more Oline commit? I would hope we took at least 4 this year, i think we only had three last year as well didnt we? And three Safety commits?

I would hope either Henderson, Stone, or Kouandjio would jump on board too.... Parkers staying out west IMO. I still like our chances with Prater as well. Christian Jones trip went amazing according to a rivals article, so we got a shot and an opening at the position.

IMO we take either cooper or amerson if they are both being recruited as safeties in our defense.

My personal wish list out of who is still out there...... Nix, Linder, Henderson, Stone, Joyner, Prater, Christian Jones, and Amerson.

Substitute Cooper for Amerson if needed, M.James for stone, i would still feel it was a perfect recruiting class.

That is what i think will happen, I would love to add Henderson but with so few targets on the board at O-line it will be tough

So which one out of that gaggle of DBs is going to play OLine?

That's a lot of corners and safeties.

We need safeties and i dont think the staff turns away a talent like Joyner. I didnt mean we turn away Henderson. I just meant with so few o-line targets left on the board, i just dont see Stone, Kuandjio, or Henderson picking ND. Although of those guys Henderson is still very much in play

I hear what you say about Henderson but that many DBs still strikes me as imbalance. We'll see how it shakes out.

Have you been watching how bad the CB, S play has been this season? ND needs as much help as it can get and even with 3 CB commits already I would still take both Joyner and Shaw if they want to come.

5 corners?

Are you taking 5 Safeties too? Or just 4?

Are you going to start 4 freshman DBs next year? Otherwise you'd be playing the same guys you don't like now.

If we only have 7 spots left this would be my guess (assuming all prior commmits stay on board):

1. OT Seantrel Henderson: I think in the end it comes down to Ohio State and Notre Dame. Henderson chooses ND because it's close to home, familiarity with Michael Floyd, and the likelihood of starting in a pro style offense on a team that will compete for a National Championship in the coming years.

2. C Brandon Linder: He is a perfect fit for Notre Dame and I think he pulls the trigger on the Irish. Versatile guy that can probably play all 5 offensive line positions. The St Thomas Aquinas pipeline continues to flow.

3. S Corey Cooper: I think he flips and goes ND over Illinois. I think the two programs are going in different directions and Cooper see's the chance to play early for the Irish at safety.

4. WR Kyle Prater: It is sounding more and more like Prater is going to flip on his USC commitment and I think if he does, Notre Dame would be the logical choice for him. Again, pro style offense (that features WR talent) with the chance to contribute immediately and I like the fact that we get a chance to make an impression on him late in the process (UConn). If we land Cooper it only helps our chances with Prater. I am sure uncle Carlyle will also be in his ear.

5. DT Louis Nix- With as many ND visits as he has made you would think he would have flipped on his Miami commitment already. I think it will happen here in the next month or so. Notre Dame could certainly use a man of his size to help plug the middle.

6. OLB Anthony Barr- It would be shocking to see him choose a poor Bruins team over his family legacy in ND. The Irish could certainly use his athleticism defensively.

7. The last spot could go in any number of directions (Ferguson, Joyner, James, Riley, Parker, etc.) and how it shakes out is anybody's guess. I am really hoping we focus on some of the higher rated, impact type recruits that can make a difference because there are certainly quite a few out there that seem to have serious interest in playing for Notre Dame.

USC/Oregon Game - Prater

USC/Oregon Game - Prater

Anyone think the USC butt whooping will hurt or help USC with Prater and maybe any other recruits that were on the fence?

This game might show USC is in a transition and he could find early playing time?
Or are other teams catching up with USC and they are no longer that dominant team?

IMO I believe USC is just in a transition and I'm just looking for any advantages for the Irish to land Prater after this week.

If ND can get Joyner and Shaw then YES, I take 5 corners. Hell there are 2 of the 3 best in this class according to Rivals. The secondary has been piss poor and there is a decent amount of them that are gone after this season and with Slaughter moving to Safety there is a need for more CB's especially with the lack of only getting 1 in the last recruiting cycle.

2 or 3 Safeties are needed as well, with Harrison Smith not being able to play the position and moving back to LB there is more of a void there as well.

We've got to stop sugarcoating how bad the DB play has been, McCarthy being quite physically limited compared to the average starting S in CFB and he's been by far the best of the bunch, so it's either coaching and schemes or there not evaluating DB talent very well or I guess both? The point is that they need help and need to get as much talent as they can get and with more and more going to a spread offense the need for more DB's is necessary anyway.

So as I said YES I take talent at a position of need because we don't know who of the bunch is going to pan out because as we've seen there others taken over the last few have been awful at worst and average at best.

I wouldn't take 4 or 5 CB's if they are just another decent CB prospect but if they are Joyner and Shaw, YES I WILL.

When do you think that recruits will figure out that USC's Off Coordinator and Def Cooridinator went to Wash...and beat Pete Carroll. We have closed the gap. Oregon schooled Pete Carroll. He may never put together another group of assistant coaches like he WAS winning with. USC is not such a sure thing as it was considered last year. We beat them 11 years in a row - he put together a good support staff - all gone now - tides a changin'... To choose an up and coming program? Or one who may be on the way down? Pete Carroll was nothing special before USC - because? Assistants! They're gone. Good luck Petey... Better buy another Reggie Bush.

Copy, paste. Copy, paste. Copy, paste. Copy, paste. Copy, paste.

FALCON SMASH! UNNECESSARY COPY AND PASTING OF RECRUITING INFORMATION DRIVES ME TO AN INTELLIECTUAL MEDIUM THAT THROWS MY COGNITIVE FUNCTION INTO AN IMBALANCE. PLEASE STOP PUTTING THE SAME THING IN EVERY THREAD!

Reaches down, grabs large handful of poop. Begins throwing around the room.

Pete Carrol is a great coach but this should have been expected. He has lost Chow, Kiffin, Sarkisian, Holt, and Orgeron. Not to mention that the powerhouse classes of USC have been a lil more human since the hiring of Weis, Meyer, Nueheisel, Harbaugh, and Erickson. The team will still be good and might still compete for a NC every now and then but they are not the juggernaut they were in the Bush-Leinert years. Still, this is not the end of them. They can still recruit with anyone, and Carrol will have them ready for big games

hahaha i love me some koolaid. Wabash dressed up as a pissed off lemon lime koolaid pitcher throwing poop is an amazing picture in me minds eye....

But back to recruiting..... i just cant see us taking more than two more DB recruits. one safety and one corner recruit would be it IMO, i dont see shaw coming to South bend, but joyner looks like a possability now.

Shaw posted good camp times and showings, but it doesnt completely compute to great football skills IMO. Joyner is a rare breed, speed and aggressive ball skill and supports the run, as well as returning kicks. If shaw commits and then joyner wants to jump on board, ok. Not the other way around though.

I would think the first safety commit wins the spot. My guess, probably amerson, which in turn leaves out cooper hurting our chances with Prater, but we are stacked at WR as it is, so its not the biggest loss ever.

2 DB commits with a spot saved for joyner is the only possible way i could see us taking 3 DBs. I guess we will see how it plays out though in the end.
