Oh yes, that you "outgained us 2-1" even though most of those yards were gained in the final 11 minutes of the 4th qtr when we were up 23-7 and in a prevent defense with many second teamers out there.

Our DC made a statement that our goal was to "keep you in front of us" and we did that. Soft zones and not pressing. The time we did press Floyd he burned us for a TD. All other times you had to dink and dunk your way down the field. It was by design. Congrats for winning between the 20 yard lines. Next time execute elsewhere.

You then gained about 200 yds through the air at that point. It's a bit too timid for my taste, but that's what happened.

This poll clearly demonstrates the issues with preseason rankings and even rankings before week 3. Preseason wise, it is a crapshoot. You have no idea what you're going to get. Auburn, for instance, should never have been in the polls.
Then, you rank after week one and you're still clueless. If ND went back out on the field and played USF today they'd win by two touchdowns. Anyone who WATCHED that game could only have come away thinking that ND is sloppy and that USF is not. USF had one drive in that game, one. No way did I come away impressed with USF, my only impression was that they don't commit turnovets or penalties and will, therefore, beat teams of equal talent who do commit turnovers and penalties and that they can beat better teams who commit agregious amounts of penalties and turnovers. But you can say that about 70% of the teams in the FCS.

Your fans are the ones still coming up with ways to let themselves sleep tonight. If I didn't glance and see the snide remark I wouldn't have said anything.

The outgaining 2:1 is overrated. I'll definitely concede that your offense is better than ours. We made it look even better than it is though by playing soft. All I'm saying is, in close games against a defense similar to ours you will notice much more trouble.

Don't expect to be gaining 500 yards if you simply eliminate turnovers next week. It won't happen.

I guess I will bite but the only time USF scores TD's is when they "have" to? I would think the whole point of an offense is to score TD's everytime they have the ball. Also on that one drive it was helped by a 15yard personal foul penalty and a "pass interference" in the endzone on 3rd down. Otherwise it would have been just another FG.

Gimme a break. Most of you were reasonably coherent before the game, but now you're doing logical backflips trying to explain how it was Skip's master plan to give up ~300 yards through the air in the second half.

TOs can't be game planned. Our offense hung 500+ yards on your defense, and your offense only managed to punch it into the endzone once against us. To imply that that was anything close to Skip's gameplan is insulting to him as a coach.

You got statistically dominated in every major aspect of the game, but still managed to win because we shot ourselves in the foot repeatedly; as in, we made a full season's worth of critical mistakes against you. I guess this is another lesson why top programs don't schedule competitive teams in their openers. Alabama gave up 5 TOs against Kent State and still won because they were playing... Kent State.

Take your fortunate win and go back to your own forums.

We had 65% of our yards in the first 3 quarters (75% of the time). Good try, though.
