This poll clearly demonstrates the issues with preseason rankings and even rankings before week 3. Preseason wise, it is a crapshoot. You have no idea what you're going to get. Auburn, for instance, should never have been in the polls.
Then, you rank after week one and you're still clueless. If ND went back out on the field and played USF today they'd win by two touchdowns. Anyone who WATCHED that game could only have come away thinking that ND is sloppy and that USF is not. USF had one drive in that game, one. No way did I come away impressed with USF, my only impression was that they don't commit turnovets or penalties and will, therefore, beat teams of equal talent who do commit turnovers and penalties and that they can beat better teams who commit agregious amounts of penalties and turnovers. But you can say that about 70% of the teams in the FCS.
