Also, Buchner literally stood in front of the media and said that he's ready for a transfer. He welcomes a vet with Pyne leaving he said and looking forward to competition and strengthening the QB room.

The "national media" probably assumes that ND is going after Hartman because they don't want Buchner. They want Hartman and Buchner, both....

Poor "analysis" by the national media - shocked

I didn't get that feeling. Seemed more like the Tims were basically panicking (prob justifiably) at the '23 DL depth, and less like "ND is wrong for how they're handling it." JMO, tho. I could be wrong in what they're really trying to say.

Agree, It didn't sound like they were encouraging anyone to leave at all. It was THIS more or less. IIRC, they said we would need 2-3 guys on the line, and maybe they were assuming that 1 or both would leave. Sounds like the staff may have soured a bit on AK.

You know at some point I am sure Rees realized how screwed up this season got without a deep QB room.

He probably laid on the line that ND will take a transfer and he won’t get caught again without a deep bench. One QB understood and accepted the reality and another left.

Kudos to Rees for that. If Buchner also left, so be it. Instead it seems like he got it.

I was encouraged by what I saw out of Tyler and it actually changed what I think he’s capable of. That being said, ND has to take a transfer this year. The problem with Tyler is you have to plan for him missing time. I don’t think ND is confident relying on either Angeli or Minchey next year. Ideally Hartman gives us a great year and then if Tyler is the guy we have Angeli in his 3rd year, Minchey in his 2nd, and Carr coming in, all behind home.

Taking this from the QB transfer thread. How long does Driskell wait this out?

The Fieldpass simulcast with Pat McAfee & AJ Hawk is just painful. Seriously, who watches that shit?

Idk man I enjoy Pat McAfee. I think he actually brings a lot to the table as a color analyst. I really think he adds a punch to Gameday. A basically “New Corso.” Guy who has some knowledge and played/coached but has a bigger personality.

I like McAfee too, but this format is just uncomfortable. I think it’s the awkwardness of the group, and McAfee trying to compensate. Idk, not my cup of tea.

I haven't listened to McAfee doing commentary during games, but he was entertaining as hell for Wrestlemania last year.

Is McAfee the guy who was doing the Steven A. Smith impression on the pre-game panel, sitting beside Saban? If that's the guy, it looks like he suffers from Histrionic Personality Disorder. Look it up.

Rasputin is not a fan.

I get kind of tired of the pessimism from the various podcasts. I don’t want sunshine pumpers either, but everything they talk about is what ND can’t/won’t do. I know that’s their job, but I find myself getting really pissed off whenever I listen in.

Any talk about Anthony Lucas is automatically dismissed and they find the whole idea of ND even looking at the kid as humorous. Like we’re all idiots for thinking it was possible a player they finished in the top 3 for a yr ago, would end up at ND.

The solution to the bolded statement is not to listen.

sounds like you’ve been listening to Mike Frank. He’s the most pessimistic and is not much different than message board fans when it comes to commentary IMO. Jamie & Greg are great.

it’s the offseason so there’s going to be excitement about the incoming recruits/transfers & there’s going to be concern about where ND looks to be lacking. This off season that seems to be the defensive line where they had some gaps in recruiting before the current staff got hired. The DL could take a step back & 100% of the blame will go on Al Washington. While he would deserve some of the blame (if it turns out true), Wash wasn’t responsible for the recruiting misses before he arrived.

I'm relentlessly pessimistic, and Mike Frank's too much for me.

I listen to pretty much everyone. And I don’t blame Washington for the current DL gaps, but I’m not happy with him continuing to offer less than polished players. Vernon will be a stud, but he’s an Elston recruit.

I want to agree with you but I find I am always agreeing with Mike Frank. Like he is Oscar in the trash can and I’m that little worm puppet friend
