They actually signed a week or two ago. Both could start, but they'll for sure be getting heavy minutes regardless.

A story that isn't being talked about is the tweet below. Teams straight took it to UCONN this year on the trail. I wanted Notre Dame to land either Boston or Jones, but I'm happy with the the two 5 stars we got. Expect a grad transfer in the spring.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Haley Jones, ranked No.1 in ESPN Class of 2019, announces for Stanford (ND, UConn, S.Carolina, Oregon were other finalists).<br>That gives Cardinal Nos. 1 & 16 players.<br>Stunningly, UConn's highest-rated recruit - & only recruit - is No.33, w/ all of top 67 now committed.</p>— Anthony Anderson (@AnthonyAnders11) <a href="https://twitter.com/AnthonyAnders11/status/1067828822584758272?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">November 28, 2018</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Yeah, I've visited the UConn board and they are having a bit of a meltdown. They already have an extremely short bench and will be losing more players than they have coming in on scholarship. The fact that they lost out on Boston, who was basically in their backyard, was a big blow to UConn.

I think we get both Paige Bueckers #1 in 2020 class and Azzi Fudd #1 in 2021 class. Brunelle, Bueckers and Fudd are EXTREMELY tight and are basically The Three Musketeers.

I have read about this. I hope it becomes true.

They have a 2020 commit in All Campbell. Sydney Parrish, Bueckers (as you said), and Caitlin Clark all seem to be realistic options and are all 5 stars.

I think it will be a tough game. I know UCONN graduated 3 starters, but they still have so much talent. The combo of Turner/Jess could be a game changer (UCONN has never had to guard both) and Mabrey being back from injury gives this team the look that I expected from the beginning.

I watched UCONN the other day --- they are still REAL good. This game will say a lot. We are still in a bit of a smoothing out period with our guard situation and Marina just getting back. Any lack of stability at guard ain't good vs UCONN. If we win that game, and look like it was under control in the second half, that sends a gigantic message to the rest of the teams. (By the way: IOWA is real good --- no lookie-over.)

UCONN struggles mightily against St. John’s. I wonder what the sea was with that?

Live Scoring: StatBroadcast
Notes: Notre Dame | Iowa
Social: @NDWBB
Halftime: Annual Teddy Bear Toss
Reminder: Irish have a clear bag policy for the 2018-19 season and moving forward
NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The No. 1 University of Notre Dame women's basketball team (6-0) takes to the national tv stage for the first time on Thursday when the Irish welcome in No. 14 Iowa as part of the ACC/B1G Challenge. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. ET inside Purcell Pavilion and the top-15 matchup will air live on ESPN2. Furthermore, at halftime, the Irish will hold their annual Teddy Bear Toss, which benefits the Saint Joseph Health Network & Christ Child Society.

ACC/B1G CHALLENGE
The Irish are 5-0 in the ACC/B1G Challenge. Last year, Notre Dame defeated Michigan in Ann Arbor, 83-63. Overall, the ACC owns eight challenge titles (8-0-3) and boasts an 81-55 record in challenge games since its inception in 2007. Last year, the ACC went a record 10-4 against the B1G.

20-POINT STREAK
After shattering the Notre Dame single season record for 20-point games with 25 last year, Ogunbowale is back at it again, starting the season with six in a row. That marks a new career high for the senior. Furthermore, the Milwaukee native is just 1-of-2 players in the country to do so (Central Michigan's Presley Hudson), but the only player from a Power Five conference.

In addition, Ogunbowale is just 1-of-4 in the entire country to already have two games with at least 30 points.

Ogunbowale now has 39 career games with 20-plus points, passing Ruth Riley's 37 for fourth all-time. Next up is Skylar Diggins at No. 3 with 45.

WELCOME BACK MARINA MAB(THREE)
After missing the first five games due to a leg injury, Marina Mabrey made an impact in her first game back. Facing No. 9 Oregon State in the Vancouver Showcase title game, Mabrey knocked down a game-changing three with the game tied at 77-all with 3:43 left, all leading to an Irish 91-81 victory.

Mabrey converted 85 three-pointers last season, which stood as the second most for a single season in ND history. In addition, Mabrey has hit a three-pointer in 19 straight games, which ties Madison Cable for fourth all-time. Sheila McMillen holds the No. 3 and 2 spot with 20 and 21 respectively.

Lastly, Mabrey's 195 career treys ranks fifth all-time at ND.

THREE-HEADED ATTACK // 1ST HALF ATTACK
Ogunbowale (24.5 ppg), Shepard (18.4 ppg) and Young (18.3) now represent three of the top-four scorers in the ACC, with Asia Durr mixed in to the No. 2 spot (22.2). The Irish continued to be led by Ogunbowale, who ranks 7th in the nation in points per game.

Furthermore, the trio are also shooting out of the gates in the first halves of games. Ogunbowale (13.7), Young (11.2) and Shepard (10.4) all average double-digit points in the first halves of games this season.

SHADES OF THE COMEBACK KIDS
The biggest trait of last year's championship squad was its ability to come back, posting seven double-digit come-from-behind wins. Fast forward to Nov. 24 vs No. 9 Oregon State and the Irish erased a 14-point deficit in the second quarter to win 91-81.

GETTING TO THE LINE
The Irish continue to attack the basket and reach the charity stripe. As a team, the Irish rank second in the country in made free-throws with 116, just two back from North Carolina. They rank sixth nationally in attempts with 161. In addition, ND has made more free throws than its opponent in every game.

Ogunbowale is a major reason, as the senior ranks fourth nationally in made free-throws (37) and fifth in attempts (49).

https://www.ndinsider.com/basketbal...cle_48d509b9-6206-5a3d-b97e-edc15ba6bf59.html

Anthony Anderson Freebie NDInsider article on Iowa game.

Large part is about Arike and Gustafson both playing HS ball in Wisconsin. Gustafson was state scoring champ who played Group 5 ball. She was a giant among the smalls. Arike played against the big schools.

Marina is on limited minutes until she gets her stamina back. Played 19 minutes last game. Her quad is fine but she feels the abscence of physical play. Minutes should increase with time.

Nixon has been out with a concussion. She is practicing, everybody is, and expected to play against IA. I would expect her minutes to be limited as well but with both available, as well as Prohaska, Arike, and Jackie there should solid guard time without the high turnovers of the first few games.

This game will be a battle of The Bigs. Gustafson at 6-3 is a prolific scorer and rebounder. Plus she has a 6-2 forward to compliment her. Iowa recently trailed #24 WVU by 24 points in the first half. In the 4th quarter Gustafson put on a clinic dominating the boards and the paint grabbing 6 Rebs and putting up 17 points to lead IA to a comeback win.

In Iowa's loss to FSU last game the Seminoles limited Gustafson looks. She got 8 shots and was kept off the foul line. I would expect Jess, Bri, as well as Vaughn and Patterson to do the same. Gustafson will have a group of talented bigs to contend with when she's on court and when off court Iowa does not have comparable backups as ND has.

ND has depth in forecourt and backcourt that they don't. In addition ND's guards dominate height against IA guards whose starters are 5-6 or less. I don't see an answer for them against Jackie's slashing, passing, and hitting the boards.
