I also noticed that the voter/evaluators in post 596 were actually watching the games --- rewarding the two big producing talents (Lindsay and Brianna), and the quiet freshman warrior (Jackie). Lots of voters get caught up in points. These people (The Blue Ribbon media panel) apparently see the game as coaches do.

Bracket looks great for us --- but Muffet earned it.

The ACC tourney bracket? If so, I agree. I really want a second game with NC State. A few weeks ago I was very unsure if Notre Dame could win the tournament again. The way they played against Florida State, I'm pretty confident they will win it again. It really all depends on how Arike plays though. If she can play team offense and play defense then this team will be a very tough out for anyone in the country.

UL Routs Clemson 68-46

UL Routs Clemson 68-46

Louisville outscored the same Clemson team ND beat by 4 points recently by 24-4 in the first quarter.

AP -- Myisha Hines-Allen and Asia Durr both scored 17 points and No. 14 Louisville, the fifth-seed, topped 13th-seeded Clemson 68-46 in the second round of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament on Thursday.

Hines-Allen scored five points as the Cardinals scored the first seven points of the game and Hines-Allen and Durr had seven each for a 24-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. The lead stayed in double figures the rest of the way.

Louisville (26-6) takes a six-game winning streak into its Friday quarterfinal game against No. 17 North Carolina State, the fourth seed.

Clemson (15-16), got 11 points from Nelly Perry. The Tigers were 2 of 14 from the field in the first quarter and finished 17 of 59 (29 percent), including 3 of 16 from 3-point range.

Hines-Allen went 7 of 10 from the field as the Cardinals shot 49 percent (25 of 51) despite going 3 of 17 from long distance. Durr made all of the 3s. Jazmine Jones added 12 points.

Naismith Trophy Semifinalist Latest Honor For Turner :: Notre Dame Women's Basketball :: UND.COM :: The Official Site of Notre Dame Athletics
March 2, 2017

By Leigh Torbin

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The honors continued to pour in for Brianna Turner on Wednesday morning as the junior forward for the No. 3 Notre Dame women's basketball team was named one of 10 semifinalists for the Naismith Trophy annually presented to the national player of the year. Yesterday, Turner was named the ACC's Defensive Player of the Year and was included in the league's all-conference first team.

The junior center has been potent at both ends of the floor this year for the Irish. She stands 10th nationally with a .617 field goal percentage and also ranks 15th nationally in blocked shots with 77 on the year. Turner leads the ACC in both categories and is one of just two players nationally in the top 15 for both field goal percentage and blocked shots. Her 254 career blocked shots already rank 11th in ACC history and second in Irish lore behind only Ruth Riley's 370. Turner is eighth among all active players in the country in blocked shots and second among her peers in the junior class nationwide.

The centerpiece in a defense which held its foes to 60.9 points per game and a .389 shooting percentage while facing the nation's second-toughest schedule, Turner also has 25 steals and 7.3 rebounds per game and leads the Irish at 15.5 points per game. Turner has recorded six double-doubles this year with four of them coming against ranked teams. Among her top performances this year, she netted a career-high 31 points as the Irish rallied from a second half deficit to down No. 21 Syracuse, 85-80, before a women's record crowd at the Carrier Dome.

UVA played ND tough last time. Kat got injured and Bri had foul troubles. Both spent more minutes off the court than on. Mychal also has an ankle issue.

Injury Update

Mychal has the boot off but is a no go for the tournament. Kat is day to day. She's been playing 15-20 minutes while injured BUT has been getting 3 or 4 days rest between games. No days off this weekend unless you go home.

Westbeld's status uncertain as Irish face Virginia in ACC Women's Tourney | Notre Dame Insider Women's Basketball | ndinsider.com
By Ken Klimek Tribune Correspondent 15 hrs ago

Westbeld has not practiced in weeks, protecting an ankle bone bruise, but has played her best basketball of the season through the weeks of the injury.

“Kat’s status is going to be tricky,” said McGraw. “She may be emergency use at times. It depends on how she feels that day. Certainly we want to rest her and everyone we can throughout the tourney.”
