Isn't 2014 the first year we would have to play 5 ACC teams? Waste a spot on Uconn? Blah.

That sounds like a terrible idea. We already are going to be playing all along the East Coast anyway....and UCONN is TERRIBLE in football. This is a major step back in scheduling, imo. At least the game at Yankee Stadium in 2010 was based on tradition and history. There is no reason ND should be playing UCONN in football ever again. Can we buy them out???

UCONN sucks but all of you guys that aren't on board are missing the point.....

Selling tickets and merch. Doesn't matter who we play there. Huge event and basically a guaranteed win.

Great idea. And recruits love this kinda stuff.

UConn's accomplished more as a program in the last few years than we have, including a BCS appearance and a drubbing of South Carolina in a bowl game. They also beat us at our place the last time we met. But obviously any program that could accomplish all of those things in the first 10 years after going 1A is terrible.

Whats wrong with playing a team that's not real good once or twice a year? Jeez o' pete. Its not as if they are an FCS team. Playing UConn, five ACC teams, Navy, USC, two B1G teams, one of Stan/Cal/UCLA, and one MAC team. I don't see the problem with this. That will still be a tough schedule, more than likely a top 15/20 schedule. And if ND goes 11-1 with that type of schedule, they will be in the four team playoff.

Sagarin has them ranked at #64 in his Predictor Model. Arkansas is 63, Auburn 58, Pittsburgh is 80, Wake Forest 108, and Navy is 106. In addition to UCon owning the All-Time W-L Record against ND.

USA TODAY

What is terrible, is the location. Not too long ago ND wanted to play UCon at Foxborough, 68K, because Rentschler Field was too small, 40K. Fenway is smaller, 37K.

ND could fill Foxborough by themselves. What a great opportunity Fenway is for More people to have to watch on TV.

Co-sign. I can't believe people are complaining about playing UConn, either. Pretty much a guaranteed win against an AQ team with a good following and national name recognition. If you want to complain, complain we are playing Temple. Personally, I won't complain about either. We can't schedule bowl-bound teams every week and expect to be in the hunt for a MNC at the end of the year.

Fenway will fit well above its baseball capacity for a football game, I think. Although it does depend on how they set it up. As a Patriots and Red Sox season ticket holder who has seen hundreds of games at these venues, I'm much more excited about seeing a game at Fenway. I am a little surprised that they couldn't talk BC into doing this, though, given the relationship between BC Athletics and the Fenway Sports Group.

BC doesn't want to give up a home game at Chestnut Hill

I'd much rather see a game at Fenway opposed to new yankee stadium. Anybody know how many that game sat? I'm too lazy to look it up. ;)

When I saw this thread my first thought was: "What a great idea!"...then I opened it and people are bashing the idea? Personally I think its great for the same reasons as IrishPat183.

My only concern is they won't be able to play the length of the field both ways. Other than center field, the walls are very short in fenway.

I've been to a game there. Ain't much of a home field advantage. If BC had any vision or creativity they would have already played a home game or two at Fenway. But they don't, which is what makes them BC and also explains why they don't have any appeal in or around Boston to fans who didn't go to school there.

It is really short down the line to the right field foul pole (302 ft), but that is only because of the weird shape of the wall. It's actuall pretty deep to the true right field corner and it is 380 feet to the bullpens. As long as there are still only 3 feet in a yard they will have plenty of room to set the field up between the third base line and the right field fence. I just hope they'd cover the infield with turf if they do that. Setting it up that way would also allow them to set up bleachers in front of the Monster, which would be a perfect setup and allow them to fit an addition 2 or 3 thousand people.

Awesome idea for a game.

The negativity on this forum never ceases to amaze me!

I'm sure the tickets will be 3x as expensive because it is Fenway.

This would be awesome. Although perhsps this coukd gave been against Syracuse to also fill the ACC slot too.

This is all part of the recruiting pitch that makes ND unique. It's great.

I assume that this would be the Shamrock Series game. It's a very cool and historic location.
