I couldn't agree more... and I didn't go there.

You look back & you realize how fortunate you are to be a part of it. The great thing about Notre Dame is that it's always with you.

I still have that jersey style that Minor was wearing. It was an exact replica of what the players wore b/c it had the heavy elastic in the sleeves and were tight fitting around the torso so as not to be easy to grab by a defender. It was back in the day when ND gear by Champion could be found in most national sporting goods retailers. I snagged one from Champs b/c it was marked down from $125 to approx $50.
I also own this style jersey - Autry Denson 23. It's funny how almost exact they are to the game worn. If you look closely, you can even see where all of the jersey holes aren't punched on the numbers. This is also true with the jerseys off the rack. I'm in the process of trying to get it autographed. We'll see!

Alvin Miller

Was HS's NPOTY in '83. Injuries destroyed his football career.

For you that didn't get to watch Mr. Stonebreaker, you don't know what you missed.
NOLA kid. Still lives there. His dad Steve was a LB in NFL & was part of the Saints first expansion draft which is probably how the Stonebreakers ended up there. Sadly, his father committed suicide. Stoney was the man & epitomized the Holtz era.

Cole Luke married a good friend of mine in early October. If you look close, you'll see I'm out of frame in the second picture.

She didn't realize that I was a huge ND fan when she started dating him, and we went on a double date for their 3rd date. I had a great time. Idk about our women. It's kind of all a blur...

Remembering all the veterans on Veterans Day. All gave some, some gave all.

Rocky Bleier embodies what the Notre Dame Man is all about. Wins Natty as part of the ‘66 team. Gets drafted in 16th round by the lowly Steelers. Gets drafted into the Viet Nam War. Gets gravely injured. Rehabs & works for 2 years on the practice squad before earning roster spot. Becomes part of the Steelers Dynasty as one of the RB tandem alongside HOFer Franco Harris. Even turned in a 1000 yd rushing season in 1976. As a kid I remember one of the tv networks did a made for tv movie on Rocky’s story that starred the late Robert Urich as Bleier.

Obviously not an ND player from the past but an interesting story on why he wasn't.

With ND going after the kid from Quebec, the name reminded me of Joe DeLamielleure. As a French Catholic kid from Detroit, I wondered why he didn't end up at ND during a time when ND got most of who they wanted. He ended up at Mich St and went on to be a HOFer with the Bills & Browns. I'll post the entire story in the link, it's a good read. Joe D is one of those Art Donovan types... funny af.

First quote for the Region Rats:
On a life spent mostly in Great Lakes cities (Detroit, Buffalo and Cleveland) : “I was always worried Gary, Ind. was going to get an expansion team.”

In 1969, DeLamielleure had narrowed his college choices to Michigan, Michigan State and Notre Dame. He leaned toward playing for Bo Schembechler and the Wolverines, but his father objected on religious and phonetic grounds.

“I said, ‘Dad, I want to go to Michigan and he said, ‘No, I don’t want you to go there cause I can’t pronounce that guy’s name,’” DeLamielleure said. “Then I said, ‘OK, I’m going to Notre Dame. He says, ‘No that coach (Ara Parseghian) is a phony, a Protestant coaching at a Catholic School. You go to Michigan State – Duffy (Daugherty) is a Catholic. That’s how I ended up at Michigan State. True story.”

OH NO! Taylor Kelly has a acquired a time machine!

Happy 71st you National Champion!

I still remember Tommy dropping back into the end zone and throwing a perfect 30 yard pass to seal the ‘73 championship against Bear and company. Cool as a cucumber.
